UK Debt tops £2 trillion debt for first time on record

I dont think anyone ever has labelled Thatcher a 'hero'.

Churchill a war criminal ? Well, words fail me.
Yes some people lord over Thatcher as a hero for saving the Falklands.

As for Churchill, what would you call ordering the burning to the ground of a city that posed no threat, was not a military target and was packed with civilians. It was shameful and vengeful. Your patriotism might not allow you to see that, and history is written by the winners so it's never talked about. But it absolutely happened, some of the staff disagreed with it, it was civilians targeted, and many many thousands died with no justification.

Winston Churchill is and always will be a national hero

Says more about your moral compass than mine.
I am very happy with my moral compass, strategic bombing was a big part of ww2 on both sides and most of us weren't even alive when this happened. Blair though caused the death of 179 Brits and thousands of others.

You're saying the strategy was an eye for eye
Pretty much, but strategic bombing was used for most of the war, it didn't just happen in dresden, the whole war there was a lot of eye for an eye and lucky for us Hitler got both of his pulled out, tactics were different then and I don't see how anyone can hold it against Churchill

From BoroMart earlier in the thread. You don’t just kill 20k+ people just cos you got bombed yourself

It happened everywhere during the war not just Dresden, millions were murdered, it was the way the war was fought hopefully we never seen anything like that again

Oh It happened everywhere......that makes it okay then.

You should re-evaluate your moral compass

that’ll be the last from on the subject

Like I said I'm happy with my moral compass it was a world war, a lot happened during those years all of it terrible but churchill got the job done.

Which city?

Dresden was a little different to other carpet bombing. It was the first time an incendiary bomb was used, thousands of people burnt to death. The death toll is impossible to know but it was somewhere between 25,000 and 250,000, mostly burned. It was toward the end of the war and was very likely unnecessary.

Churchill, whilst a good war-time PM is no hero.

That's fine if that's how you feel, that's for you to own, but it doesn't change the reality of what he did and it being criminal. Any obective analysis shows that his crime is way way beyond what Blair did.
