TV licence court letter.

What constitutes Live TV in the new world though?

For example is watching a Youtube stream live counted, what about Twitch feeds, what about if you subscribe to OnlyFans, that can be streamed live so do you need a TV licence for that ?

They need to revisit the rules based on the technology available today, not 10 years ago, and be much clearer.
Is this you advertising your only fans account lizards?

That’s a good point, but in this case ppv wrestling is 100% going to be classed as live TV

Or they could abolish the licence fee and the bbc could become self funding like every other broadcaster!

I've seen some comments from TV Licencing (possibly at a Select Committee?) where they tried to claim that anything livestreamed requires a licence, which is clearly nonsense.

Yes it’s ridiculous having to pay extra, already pay close to 100 quid a month for sky, bt, Netflix and prime and then 15 quid for the bbc which I haven’t watched in at least two years.

When you think of the quality and depth of programme Amazon prime and Netflix offer for half the price it makes you realise how shocking it actually is

How easy is it to change that law though? As someone said they claim any livestream but is that written in law? As I’m sure you don’t need one for YouTube
You won’t need one to watch videos uploaded but if you watch live TV then you would need a license. Many news channels are live on YouTube.

Nope, youtube, Netflix and football manager for me. No desire for live TV, don't have sky sports for football.
Like I say wrestling PPVs and they cost me £20 extra
If you subscribed to WWE network you wouldn’t Need to pay for PPVs? Or need a tv licence?

I’ll give you Netflix but Amazon Prime is largely a heap of absolute dross!

Except most other flagship broadcasters in Europe are also funded by similar models because there are already a plethora of commercial offerings.

It’s nowhere near Netflix but it has some decent originals, a decent set of films plus two rounds of premier league games every year. For £8 which includes free Amazon delivery I think it’s fantastic value

Depends what you watch I supposed Amazon prime has an awful UI but some great content.

Horses for courses. Every original series I’ve tried to watch on it has been terrible. So you’re paying £8/m for an occasional film which would be cheaper to rent, plus a very occasional PL match. I have it but only for the deliveries and because it makes Amazon Music cheaper, but I can’t honestly say it stands up to BBC content across the board in my opinion.

Read the full thread so far. I think I can sum it up if I've read it all right.

Man watches small amount of live TV but doesn't have a licence. Admitted that to the TV license inspector. Now got a summons. OP not happy.

I hope they don't fine you much, but like others have said, sadly you are bang to rights here.

Without scaring the OP I think the fine is pretty standardised, no licence in England and Wales is £1000 whilst court summons in Scotland never happens.

I had Netflix in the States. Ditched it when I came back as I hardly ever watched anything on it. Much prefer the BBC.
