Trying to get people out to the pubs again after Covid.

I have a few places on the red list. One that immediately comes to mind is Tomahawk Steakhouses. There is one local pub I don't use now as they had a party in lockdown (and the landlord is a numpty).

I always try to support local businesses but some just don't deserve support.

Anyway, I'll get of my moral high horse now :ROFLMAO:
Penny Black?

Who are you calling a scumbag from behind your iMac? Have a look in any wetherspoons throughout the day and you'll find plenty of old folk in there catching up either over a coffee or a pint and a hot meal, potentially their best hot cooked meal of the week. Fictional scenario? It is not.

Believe it or not fella but not everybody can afford to sup pints of moretti and eat mussels and steak every week/month.

I have absolutely no issue with wetherspoons operating how they do and I say that as a man who works in a pub that charges £4.20 for a pint of John Smith's Smooth as per instruction of the brewery the pub is tied too. Could the staff be paid more? Absolutely. But you can say that about s mutlitude of hospitality businesses. Is the owner of Wetherspoons a prat? Yes he is. But again I don't believe the two old gents catching up over a pint and a game of dominoes gives two *****.
Making things up about me? That's wierd. It is scummy behaviour and you know it. I get it. you need to prove your point so you twist things so the person disagreeing can't do that without looking bad. It's almost clever. It's not just about the staff being better paid. It's about how the owner treats them. How he treat them during the pandemic. If you drink at spoons then you endorse that kind of treatment, or don't care about others if it means you can save 30pee a pint. Either way isn't a great look

I don't need to prove my point to an idiot who has absolutely no idea what he's on about.
Your angry because in your head, you think that the owner of Wetherspoons is somehow destroying something that's British through and through yet we know your anger isn't about that, because as someone else mentioned you drive an American designed and built car, so what could it be I wonder?

🤔

🤷

Come on I know you are dying to type out that 6 letter word.

You do realise it's a really really false equivalence the fact I drive an American car? Please explain to me, if you are able. How that is connected with spoons destroying a traditionally British way of life.

I love going to the pub and I go as often as I can, some of the beers that you can buy these days are amazing, so much choice.

I’ve not noticed too many empty pubs around my way…if anything, lockdown made people realise how much they’ve missed going out…a lot of people are making up for lost time.

Similarly there are so many bands playing as they’ve missed out over the last 2 years. Every pub, club and venue round my way have got loads going on.

Maybe I’m lucky to live in an affluent touristic city, but my regular landlord seems to think business is booming.

It is. You absolutely right about the choice of beers/lagers. Especially since the micropub phenomenon took off.

I know, it’s just occurred to me that I don’t think I’ve ordered anything in a pub that hasn’t been brewed within 10 miles of where I live for a few years now…thats incredible. I know they cost more but in some ways that’s a good thing as I drink less and savour the flavour more.

AH so you can't explain that @Randy . That's OK, I think we are all used to you reading things on the internet that you think support your world view but also you being unable to understand them. It's pretty much your MO.

Your last paragraph is correct, not the case across Teesside or the north east in general, there are plenty of pubs struggling to get people in. Randy works in a fairly affluential area I believe.

Small Town is commenting on his experience in London, which despite large areas of deprevation still has areas of wealth away from the tourist backed west end.

Billingham town centre, for instance, has two pubs, The Astronaut and the Half Moon (Wetherspoon), the latter is by far the most popular of the two, and for good reason. It appeals to a wider section of the population.

Last I heard @Randy Was nipping round his local spoons for a pint and some chicken wings questioning his own moral compass because some Tory voter told him he was a naughty boy 🤷‍♂️

I just choose not to rise to ST's constant baiting. It's obvious now he has something on Rob or BoroLad. Nobody in the history of the internet gets away with been such a massive cheb end as much as he does. 🤣

Because you can’t answer why you think having an American car is the same as not wanting to destroy British pubs.

I’m glad we established that. You really should stop reading stupid things on the internet and believing them without thinking

I haven't heard cheb end before. Made me smile.
