Tommy Smith or Dijksteel for RB

Definitely Dijksteel, links up so well with Jones. Yes smith is far more solid at the back but we loose out on so much going forward with him in the side

I really do not rate Smith

For now he’s doing a good job but for me AD is much better both defensively and in attacking sense

Whilst I think Dijksteel is much more athletic, I don't think he is more 'attacking' so to speak and his career stats back that up really. Smith averages an assist every ten games, Dijsteel averages one every forty games.

I was surprised by this as I was a big admirer of the Dijksteel-Crooks-Jones triumvirate down our right had side during our early good spell under Wilder, and assumed he had more assists than this.

I think defensively Smith is much more solid, Dijksteel despite having all of the physical and technical attributes to be an effective defender seems to switch off or give up at times when defending.

Big fan of Djiksteel and would have been one of the first names on my teamsheet. But he was not in the team and TBH Smith has done ok so Djiksteel will have to wait for his chance.
See also Muniz. If he gets a chance it's up to him to grab it. Forss doing ok but doesn't look many goals in him.

I think Carrick cannot rate Muniz, as he has hardly played him. It’s a shame- I think that there is a decent player there. If we are not going to play him then he should be sent back to Fulham in January.

I think the Muniz one is interesting as he isn't really being given that chance as Crooks is coming on ahead of him, and now Watmore seems to be ahead of him too.

And I think Muniz is a better striker than either of them, although they both have other attributes and you can't really argue with the decision with Crooks getting the winner in the last two games.

If Muniz had been playing yesterday he would have spent 90% of the game on his backside. Pretty sure he’ll go back to Fulham in the new year.

Smith is much better in a back four than Djiksteel and gives us much more leadership. He was livid with Jones yesterday and was practically coaching him where to run to receive a pass.

Muniz would have blasted the chance Crooks scored from over the bar. I have been distinctly underwhelmed by him, don’t think he’s a team player.

Djksteel has huge potential and Chuba is proving that sometimes it takes a bit longer for things to really click for a player. I really hope we don’t let Djksteel go and he finds a way back into the side. One problem he may face is similar to a lot of very good footballers, he can play in a number of positions so is never considered a master of one in particular, paddy for example has that going on.

I think Smith is chosen as he is a more solid player defensively than dik, This in turn allows Jones to be more daring with what he can try to pull off. Dik is the better player for me but if it allows Jones to be more off the cuff then Smith is the correct pick

Think its more that he really is learning his trade still. There is absolutely a championship quality player in there, but it might take another 50 games experience to come out. The kid arrived at Boro with just 16 career starts under his belt. However, I would only persist with him if there is an option buy, at a reasonable price. Pointless being his learning ground and then sending him back to Fulham.

Dijksteel is eye catching going forward, and worked well with jones/crooks early in the wilder era, but doesnt create too much under his won steam. He can have a really good solid 75 minutes defensively and then inexplicably switches off and stand 5 yards away from the bloke he is meant to be marking at a free kick.

Smith every time for me as stronger defensively and gives jones more freedom going forward, although as others have said its probably he are we are looking to improve in the mid/long term.
