This week, I 'ave been mostly listening to

It was a bonkers gig with a full on fight with a bloke and his mates in the crowd. McCulloch smacking the fella with his mic stand and Will Sergeant wading in with his guitar.

Really? Can definitely imagine that. Macca could always look after himself!

Lurker of Chalice - Lurker of Chalice
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F# A# Infinity
Judas Iscariot - To Embrace the Corpses Bleeding
Winterfylleth - The Threnody of Triumph
Judas Priest - British Steel
Trist - Nostalgie
Agalloch - Ashes Against the Grain

British Steel is brilliant from start to finish (y)

Oh you sent me on a bit of a journey there to see if I could find a write up of it. Totally unsuccessful, but now I'm thinking I might go and see the Bunnymen at Shepherds Bush or The Sage next year. Who'd have thought when you were feeling down earlier you'd be Vronsky Smile Deliverer this afternoon?

Similar here, and only realised recently how good the second side of "Never Say Die" is. For some reason I'd tied it into their break up and decided it was poor. And here I was forty years later learning something. That may well be what I listen to later. Thanks for the directional nudge.

Never Say Die always seems to get panned. I reckon it's got some of Sabbaths best tracks on there. Juniors Eyes is one of the best things they've ever recorded IMHO.

Great thread (after a dodgy start from Scoob - only joking fella)
Gonna get some Sabbath going and listen to The Hu

Bunnymen still feature for me
And, at the risk of being predictable - watched Floyd live the other night followed by Them and Us (Roger Waters)

New albums from Pauline Murray, Working Mens Club, A Certain Ratio and the New Order Power, Corruption & Lies box set for me.

Cheers fellas, this little interlude, started by the estimable Scoob, has cheered me right up, and given me ideas of what to listen to while I go for my limpy afternoon stroll. Sabbath, Bunnymen, Floyd and Priest will be a great accompaniment. Hope you're all having a good day. Who knows I might espy an unexpected murmuration to top it all off.

Any mention of Echo and the Bunnymen puts a smile on my face and especially needed just then.

I was wading chest deep through a lost file crisis that had progressed from under the breath cursing to full blown yell at the lap top as if it was a sentient being of pure malevolence...then a piano refrain and the 2018 transformed version of The Killing Moon, even sweeter in its non immediate recognition, shuffles into my ears and I sit back, enjoy its magnificence and regress thirty years in thirty seconds...I went back to my work and found the file exactly where I moved instead of copied it....inner beast tamed, another work day done and an hour of further Bunnymen regression await.

Ha! My mission is complete Sir! I need to see em again. I saw them in 81 in Liverpool and I can still remember every second of it. I was blown the f**** away!

I've rediscovered Smashing Pumpkins and forgot how incredible they are!
