You may notMight I suggest 'The Sun Has Got His Hat On' by the Henry Hall BBC Dance Orchestra (sans the dodgy line, obv) as a more upbeat alternative?
I'm currently blissing out on 'Paranoid', Black Sabbath. Again realising what a brilliant rhythm section they had.
Absolutely. As important as Sly and Robbie to my mind.
Spot on my friend. You know, I was in a real funk today, real low mood but I fished out some amazing albums and the world really seems brighter. God I love my music!
Good for you. I love it when music makes me smile, whatever the genre.
Absolutely. Nothing like it!
And Black Sabbath are a definite go to to put a smile on my face. I might have a bit of them myself later on.
Ha! Started something now! 50 years old and still sounds as fresh and important as the first time I heard it!
Similar here, and only realised recently how good the second side of "Never Say Die" is. For some reason I'd tied it into their break up and decided it was poor. And here I was forty years later learning something. That may well be what I listen to later. Thanks for the directional nudge.
Oh yeah, completely agree. I think a lot of us thought that to be honest. I found it got better with age.
I always love listening to new, different music, but there's nothing like revisiting something and a band as classic as BS!
If you fancy something the same but different can I suggest you have a go at The Hu? I've been listening to them for a lot of this year. Unlike much else around. No problems if you don't like them, but they have put a smile on my face.
Oh yeah, the Mongolian band?! F****** love em!
Excellent. I've been telling everyone about them. So much so I couldn't get a ticket for either their London or Brighton gigs earlier this year.
Lurker of Chalice - Lurker of Chalice
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F# A# Infinity
Judas Iscariot - To Embrace the Corpses Bleeding
Winterfylleth - The Threnody of Triumph
Judas Priest - British Steel
Trist - Nostalgie
Agalloch - Ashes Against the Grain
Oh I bet! I can imagine they would be phenomenal live. I had tickets to see Nick Cave at Leeds in May! Cancelled obviously! Dammit!
Same here, but for London. Biggest disappointment for me at the moment is The Chameleons. They'd split up and offered loss, so I was really looking forward to them, having first seen them at York racecourse with Echo and The Bunnymen half a lifetime go.
