Way beyond you and your views , most will know what I mean .Millwall of the north?
Way beyond you and your views , most will know what I mean .
I will spell it out .
A community club,
A club built on being close to the people in its area .
A pride and passion for the club and area.
A bond between fans and club that others envy .
Millwall are a close knit club like us , both will stand up for our clubs and fans .
How does this make any sense? If the deadline is before the window opens then whether it is 1 day or 100 days doesn't make any difference. We're not making payments for new signings in March. The reason early birds are so early - we found that out - at our level clubs with the earliest renewals literally have the cash available to bid for the transfers right at the start of the window.
Oops sorry. As Finn Azaz would know all toi wellWhat defeat? We drew 3-3 when we last played them!
How exactly could we increase the revenue by £millions a year?
Who said millions ?
Not proclaiming to know how to EXACTLY do that , but I do know what's a barrier to potential new customers...
Off the top of my head
A) make it easier for potential new customers to attend.. i.e 80 quid a month for 10 months is easier for a family to find than ' you have 2 months to find 800 quid '
A thousand new doing that is 800k
B) Accept that the family zone is a great idea for those with under 11s .. but not for those with teens .. So offer another option for ST price incremates.
C) Get the commercial aspect of the club sorted.
There's no way on ' bring a scarf night ' I should be buying an unofficial scarf cos we have none.
Or be buying unofficial shirts cos the club have none .Or missing 5 mins either side of half time to be served , and drink a pint.
D) Offer family oriented ' dad and lad / parent and child walk ups ' ..
E) There's a captive audience for live professional sport for this club with v little competition for 20 odd miles .. that's rare .. don't take it for granted.
F) this is another elephant in the room...
Maybe, some of our fans, who have the most money, get the best deal .. below market value.
Maybe.. some should be paying more and wouldn't notice after a grumble .
I do appreciate your tired and stuff ..
However I've been working, so answer when I can.
Echoing the same point I made nearly a year ago..I hope this week has been a major turning point between MFC and their brilliant fans. We all want the best for this Club. The situation with the Early Bird Season ticket email was ridiculous. No excuse. Surely the Club must realise that. Let us now move on. We have a great Chairman, a fan who has always supported the Club since it was bankrupt. As long as he keeps putting his money in so should we. IF WE CAN. He has made mistakes at times but that is part of running a Football Club. Hopefully we can all start to now communicate properly, be an open Club, a Community Club. Make sure all levels of fan can afford to go to the match, especially the kids. We don’t want anybody born, or living, within twenty miles of Middlesbrough supporting anybody else. Let’s fill the ground every week. If any tickets are left give them to the schools etc. We have a large Asian community. We need to be attracting them. Other communities in the Teesside area such as Ukranian refugees etc. We are Teesside. Everybody should be welcome to support the best Club in the North East. The commercial side needs to be sorted out. We need to see people walking round Teesside with Boro shirts, coats etc. We have a great Manager in Michael Carrick, a good young team who want to play football in an entertaining way. Let’s get ourselves sorted out for Saturday and now start to look forward to a bright future.
I never thought we would ever be compared to Millwall, it’s an interesting one.Way beyond you and your views , most will know what I mean .

We’re all facking burrah ain’t we you mug.Don’t they boo taking the knee as well
Fair if predictable take on the situation although you have been cynical even before the statement cane out.Token gesture from the club in my opinion. It's simply not enough. This was the easiest concession for Gibson and the club to make, and I'm surprised these fan groups have lapped it up.
How many kids walk ups do we actually have? For every kid there is still an adult walk up paying north of £30. Did the meeting discuss the extortionate adult walk ups? Did the meeting discuss why our season tickets are so expensive? What about the ridiculous increase for new ST holders? Did they discuss the finance option?
Then there's the terrible commercial/retail side of the club, it really is shockingly bad. Then there's the quality of the food and drink on offer. And the state of the stadium and surrounding areas...
If that's the case then well done, but a deadline being extended is an easy thing for the club to do, I'm sure they have done this a few times before? You don't know why and how decisions were reached. Look, it was me that successfully pleaded the case for the renewal period to be lengthened. I didn't come away from that conversation thinking where were other fan groups in that discussion. I sent a message and then had several phone calls explaining the ins and outs of that situation. But I was taking my lead from many different posters and their arguments.
Some of the fans around the table last night wanted to walk out on Saturday. Some didn't want to renew - am not going to say which was which or who was who.
I will say to you I wasn't going to walk out. I wanted to strike a deal to ensure there was no walk out - that was my personal goal. I brought up the match long ago when Lee Cattermole cried. I explained I spoke to him not long after that match and asked him why he cried. He said quite simply the toxic crowd that day totally got to him. I was saying this to explain that actions in the stands would have consequences on the pitch and perhaps in the dug out.
Rob has said the meeting took place 2 weeks ago, despite this he claims the club blindsided then with the renewal news.My main takeaway from all this is
1. Gibson forced to the table by 40 fans.
2. He doesn't do anything on the back of MSF that impacts fans. The foodbank collections are good for community but what else has come of it?
3. If you get an invite to these things, which most weren't even told was happening, you cannot say what was discussed until Gibson signs the words off.
4. We are a million miles away from being a fan centred club. Gibson misses the point that we know he backs the club. Some of the ideas fans have for increasing revenue would actually benefit him and the club. A lot of us have business and customer experience knowledge. The club is run like a small family operation it feels like most of the time.
5. We won't know for another year if the latest promise to be more open means anything. They have said exactly the same thing in recent years.
6. Other than a boycott we have no clout. We are hostages to our club. We are never going to say enough is enough in enough numbers. Perhaps a coordinated one off might work. But I still think the majority would ignore and say, well things aren't that bad.
7. We still don't know if the regular meeting took place two weeks ago and if so what was actually discussed in it.
Well that kind of proves earlier points. They don't care what fans think and don't involve them in things. I would suggest Rob is wasting his time going to these meetings.Rob has said the meeting took place 2 weeks ago, despite this he claims the club blindsided then with the renewal news.
