Their Penalty Shout?

Apologies if this was mentioned on any of the other threads, but when Jones clumsily challenged their winger in the first half I thought it was a stone wall penalthy and everyone around me in the East Upper said the same. I've not seen any replays of it, but did anyone get a decent view that could explain why the ref didnt give it?

Took a sharp intake of breath like many round me in the deep South. Thought it was pretty nailed however, the Ref, I felt, was very inconsistent with his decisions. We had 2 poleaxed players and he still let play go on.

From my position in the South West it looked a penalty. My son thought the same too.

I actually think it was a case where the forward deliberately slowed dramatically causing Jones to run into the back of him, having said that I would have given it.

The ref made a number of strange decisions today. If the ref gave that penalty I would have had no complaints ge gave him a fair old shove.

They were going down too easily and feigning injury all over the pitch whilst practising general thuggery on our players.

For this reason no surprise it wasn’t given although I was too far away to get a clear view.

Good for Jones to get a rare decision in his favour as well.

Initially thought it would be one, but the replays made it clear that he'd thrown himself in front of Jones and went down looking for it.

Right decision from the ref for me.

But if he had gave it, I'd have understood.
The replays didn't make that clear at all.

It was a penalty.

We'd have been screaming blue murder if that had happened to us.

I was watching it on a stream my initial thought was a clear penalty, the angle I saw of the replay was from behind the goal line looking directly at it, from this angle not a penalty he threw himself in front of the challenge and Jones caught him as he did that, you could argue he was protecting the ball but it was really badly executed if that was the case. Other angles may tell a different story.

I couldn't be closer and it was absolutely a pen.

Andre Mariner was awful, I can't remember such an inconsistent display by a ref.

Has he been demoted from the EPL?

Never saw it, or assuming I did I didn’t give it a second thought 🙈. Maybe that was the one point in the game I agreed with the ref 🤷‍♂️
