Afternoon all, and what a lovely afternoon it is too. Sun is shining, the nights are getting longer and we can have a whole stress free weekend now the footy season is over. I'm hoping (though not hopeful) that the Mackems get battered tonight of course but that's more of a cherry on top thing rather than defining my mood for the weekend.

I'm going to potter about in the garden now I've finished work for the day though unlikely to indulge in much, if any, drinking this evening as I'm working tomorrow. That said it's supposed to be a lovely weekend so I might have a gentle beer or two tomorrow evening.

A cracking song to get us underway, here's the Manics...

Big tune for me and my Missus. I'd just met her. Went to see them at Cambridge Junction with my dear departed mate Swells, with a view to making the video for Little Babay Nothing. Before the gig, me and Swells were in a cafe in cambridge when Motorcycle Emptiness came on the radio they were playing. I was missing my gal ... and it stuck. We went to the gig, met the girls that became Shampoo... talked them into being in the video, met the Manics for the first time (me not Swells) .... and since then it has been "our tune2 in an Simon Bates styleee.

It's definitely been cider weather today, so it would be rude not to. A dig in the fridge found a bottle of "English Vintage Cider" from Sainburys "Taste The Difference" range. Not bad. How about a cover that transcends the original?

Evening all, had a nice walk along Roker front today (enemy territory, but loads of them at Coventry so good chance to infiltrate). Went into The Stack there, great duet called North Riding were playing (great fish and chips too)
North Riding played the song linked which I haven’t heard for a while, Mrs F always says it gives her a six week ear worm!!

Tomorrow off sailing for five days, weather looks nice, but the chill on Roker front was a hint that it might not be sunbathing weather in the North Sea.

Awesome track that North Riding did very well, but the original is the one….

Stumbled across this band when I heard Lamacq play their new single Shivers on his show on Monday. Gave them a blast on Spotify on my long drive home from work last night and it was the perfect soundtrack to my daily battle through the Chicago traffic.

Chicago band..... Billy Corgan owns a vegan restaurant not far from my house and is often in there apparently. I'm not vegan but the food is supposed to be great so I definitely need to give it a try one night.
