The weekend 🍺 🍻 and 🎶 🎵 thread

Well, been on some cheap Malbec that my daughter brought me from Home Bargains. Actually not bad at all. But the headline for tonight is, listening to the Nightingales Live in Balsall Heath, released today. Absolutely brilliant. Confounding that "not as good as the record" thing. This performance was with ace sax player Terry Edwards and viola/cello players. What can I say. Head over to bandcamp and get the digital download. The version of "I am Grimaldi" is worth it alone in my book. Repeated that one several times.

I set off for Glasgow this morning at 8am, took 3 hours to tip and drove back, got back into Tees Port at 8pm, Glasgow and back in an Artic is a long arise drive on a Friday- no time for Morrisons on the way home, but lucky we had a Aldi bottle of Kooliburra, the Shiraz Cab is actually very good for the money- about a fiver, the quality would be £7/8 elsewhere, not keen on the other versions of Kooliburra but if you can get the shiraz Cab, then you should buy it.

Anyhow, off tomorrow, so expect to finish the bottle.

I've been sat in my cab all day on my own, beats in my ears on full blast and yes they actually pay me for it. Needless to say, I always go back to English Folk, so Jamie Webster this time

Somethings gotta give.

Exciting day, 5 hours in A & E with the wife, who has done her ankle ligaments in whilst putting the washing out…so looks like I’ll be busier than expected over next few weeks 😬😮

Have a Brewdog Arcade Made DIPA up first. To celebrate the hospital trip here is one from the 80s.

Cheers!

If we're going to have a track called Doctor Doctor then I give you ......

I had Bragg on a lot, I usually do, but Great American Railroad album is different, Joe Henry should be much bigger, he is huge in the states, and married Madonna's sister I think.

Anyhow, two iconic song writing giants version of "Gentle on my mind"

I reviewed UFO at the Town Hall for a short lived rag called Musicians Only. Great track. They took the 16 year old me back stage with them and did unspeakable things to the16 year old me. None of them sexual, I hasten to add. But at 16 years old, sitting on a chesterfield with Pete Way as he hands me a coke can full of burning weed ... under the watchful camera of Ross Halpin .... it's now a cherished memory and not an abuse allegation.

Working from home today and just knocked off so, after a long commute from my study to the garden, here's a lovely 12% stout and an 80s cover (I'm working on a Spotify playlist of 80s covers in my spare time at the moment so if you've got any suggestions fire away!)
