*The Unofficial "official - "The Chase is on" - Boro v Stoke. Match-Day Thread*

Sheffield Utd should worry about Millwall and Luton as well as us, momentum really isn't with them at the moment. It isn't just between the two of us for second. From our point of view it's important we make the play offs this season at the very least.
It is incredibly tight from 2nd to 5th, maybe even 6th.

Luton are a threat, given a game in hand and we have to go to theirs. Looking forward to that one, my local game. @r00fie1 I may reach out to you for a ticket if you are not attending. I think it's a friday night game, so a fair chance we will sell out before general sale. Boro lads making a weekend of Luton :D

@starplayer I didn't think the ref was that bad. It was physical, and the pushing at the end should have been reigned in a bit. For me their penalty was a definite penalty, he also missed the handball from Stoke, which was also a definite penalty. I can see why he missed that, it was masked by the players body a bit and at full speed it was difficult to spot the handball.
It wasn’t that he was bad but there were a couple of situations where Pearson fouled Ramsey on the break that prevented opportunities similar to when we broke against Swansea and scored and Watford and QPR. A few people have been saying we weren’t that good but if those situations had been allowed to develop last night we could have had more opportunities to score. I am all for the refs allowing more physicality but the blatant spoiling stuu should be addressed imo.

There was a pull back on ramsey when he had skinned pearson, that was a yellow all day long, the ref had a chat. As you say, its exactly the sort of play that results in goals for us.

We had our chances and didn't take them. Akpom missing the target early on, and again with the curler that hit the bar. Can't blame hom for hitting the bar though, that would be very churlish.

Aye and Archer nea

Aye and Archer nearly dinked it over the keeper with a header. I was pretty pleased with our play and the fact we kept playing it out from the back. Didn’t really get some of the negativity on the phone in.

I didn't think it was a 'definite' peno... but it was a close one (although I think it would be given more often than not). Real time I thought it would be given, but with the benefit of replay I thought Ramsey looked like he was going to wrap a leg around, but pulled back. The Stoke player anticipated that and went down, and then realised the leg hadn't come round - I think that'll be why the ref didn't give it. (Well done ref)!
