* The Unofficial "Official" Boro v Villa, FA Cup, Match-Day thread *

Great performance, unlucky against a really good team that had to bring all their reinforcements on.

Concern for me is we've put an awful lot of energy into this.

Well that’s a shame. I was really impressed and enjoying that till the spawny effort at the end.

Loads of positives, loads of credit, loads of players did themselves no harm at all.

Really good performance this, showed all the good aspects of our football and the need for more thrust up front. Really disciplined, well organised and very tidy on the ball playing out from the back.

About as good as we could hope for without going through, didn't want a replay but we were outstanding. Gives us some hope going into the Chelsea game.

If I was the manager of us, I would allow the service staff at the club to make the visiting managers after match drink take a deflection onto the floor just a yard away from being served,. Then I wouldn't say sorry or anything , would jut stand back and stare at the situation and instruct the sercice staff not to replace . Sorry that's how I feel

Wouldn't say anyone had a bad game. All did well. Carrick got it right as well.

On another day that goes our way against one of the top teams in the country

Really good performance and you could tell at the end that we didn’t really want to score for the replay. Shows Carrick has more tactical nous than people give him credit for

Well that was a cracking performance against a team challenging for the title. Bangura and Clarke really impressed me lath too. Just hope the likes of Jones aren't knackered for Tuesday as they put a real shift in. Good to see Carrick change it up too. Keep it tight till the the home stretch then get lath on and opened it up a bit. Long way from getting tonked by Brighton last year.

All that effort only to lose to such a ridiculously unlucky goal - that's no fun at all. I didn't care about the result of this game, but that's a shi1t way to lose.

But at least nobody got injured and we even have a couple back - which we're going to need since Rogers and Greenwood can't play on Tues.

Villa celebrating like they've won the cup.

Not surprised considering their record in the third round

21/22 - Manchester United 1 - 0 Aston Villa (3rd Round)

20/21 - Aston Villa 1 - 4 Liverpool (3rd Round)

19/20 - Fulham 2 - 1 Aston Villa (3rd Round)

18/19 - Aston Villa 0 - 3 Swansea City (3rd Round)

17/18 - Aston Villa 1 - 3 Peterborough United (3rd Round)

16/17 - Tottenham 2 - 0 Aston Villa (3rd Round)

15/16 - Aston Villa 0 - 4 Manchester City (4th Round)
