* The Unofficial "Official" Boro v QPR [03/24] Match-Day Thread *

QPR are just like us, fail to capitalise when they are on top.
Once we'd weathered that first half we upped it and got our noses ahead.
Typical of the Championship really in that it's fine margins that swing matches.

You could feel the cloud lift after the goals went in v Norwich and the confidence return.

It felt like a turning point hopefully it was.
I don't think it's a turning point, more an arrest of the slide.
We still lack a lot of the quality to gain promotion, but we know where we need to strengthen.

So the next time someone claims that Carrick isn't pragmatic, always plays the same way, the same tactics then point to todays game. He was happy to change to a mid-press, concede possession, ensure we get behind the ball and block the passing lines and then hit on the break a bit more. Worked a treat. Most solid defensive performance of the season, didn't really give them any opportunities.

Dieng 7 - had one fairly routine lob to save and one other shot that I'd expect him to save, no fuss really
Rav 8 - superb tackle from that through ball, a world class tackle actually
McNair 8 - solid and organised
Clarke 9 - man of the match for me, won everything in the air and on the deck, solid with the ball at his feet again
Ayling 8 - steady all game and an assist
Engel 7 - tricky first half (6), dominated that side in the second (8)
Howson 8 - owned the midfield
O'brien 8 - best game in a Boro shirt
Lath 7 - worked hard good finish
Forss 7 - worked hard good finish

subs 7s all put effort in and showed some good game management
