* The Unofficial "Official" Boro v Huddersfield Town. League Cup. Match-Day Thread *

Not sure I get the criticism of Barlaser on Saturday. He didn’t set he world alight but he wasn’t horrendous.

Midfielders are also reliant on having options to pass to. When teams sit deep and your forward players sprint pace is like a jog (Crooks, McGree, Rogers, even Forss isn’t lightening) then it becomes difficult.

Much happier seeing Jones / Silvera starting tonight.

Lovely through pass for Jones.

There will always be someone unpopular
I didn't think he was too good Saturday, but seems to be doing well tonight

It's literally the board idiots who don't understand football.

(He also did give the ball away twice dangerously in our half)

Maddo fighting payero corner

From "watching on the radio" it sounds like he's still trying too hard. Had a couple of chances to get a shot on target and lashed it over the top, a couple of "nearly" passes and picked up our only yellow card.

I'll be interested to hear what the verdict is from supporters who are there.

The Jury is still out for me, although I’ve seen glimpses to believe he could be a decent player for us. Not sure he’s a Howson replacement though as doesn’t seem to have his legs and energy.

As far as giving the ball away in our own half. Hackney gave the ball away in a poor position for the goal (not aided by McNair mind).

We ask have to accept it’s part of the risk with how we play. Passing out in tight areas will always increase the chance you give it away in dangerous areas.

He made bad decisions on Saturday, but I'm pretty sure noone sensible was writing him off on that performance. You act as though you have to be 100% positive or 100% critical of a player. I'm not sure why you have to be so antagonistic towards people who aren't 100% positive about his performance on Saturday.
