* The Unofficial "Official" Boro v Coventry City Match - Day Thread *

Ever since Muniz signed.
A striker shows half a decent physical threat and our scaredy-cat players are all over him like a rash
Yeah exactly, they saw him and thought “class, I can’t pass 10 yards under pressure, but if I launch it up near that big lad, I won’t look bad”

Wilder can do one. Whole team is a shambles
The team is a shambles but the club did fail to get in a number of key signings he wanted and sold his best midfielder without replacing him in all honestly.

The decisions by the club to try and go a half season with Howson, Crooks and Mowatt as the only central midfield options is utterly baffling.

We needed two centre mids as soon as Payero went. We then let Tav go without having a replacement lined up and just assumed Mowatt would be up to the job.

The fact we've sat on £20 million with a number of glaring deficiencies in the squad is idiotic.

We should be in one of the strongest (non-parachute clubs) FFP positions.

Gibson needs to come out and give some sort of justification as to why we didn't get the signings the manager wanted over the line, and what the plan is for the club going forward.

We got in a highly sort after manager, we are in a good place financially and should have money to spend.

All the good faith and optimism that last season brought has been utterly dismantled by the club in the space of 5 weeks.

I'm fed up.

Get Kenyon and Karanka back in.

We clearly want to continue with a W manager. There’s nothing like consistency.
Come on back Neil W. Boro awaits your magic touch. 😂

Tees now saying results are good .......as others at bottom are losing ....ffs
PS that Warnock was *****;) .....this is worse football than under NW, frantically searching for a system ...in October FFS

Been poor up to now this, this side should have been able to keep this much tighter, and keep the ball better, so we had a strong footing going into the second half.

Think this is proof that we’re never going to defend to get wins, we need to go for goals, goals, goals, and trust the lads up front will put them away.

0-1 is better than 0-3 though I suppose, and we still have the good, fresh options to use second half.

If we play the second half like we did against QPR, Cardiff, Reading etc, then we can still easily win this.

I’m hoping Coventry don’t sit back second half.

Sure, let’s just sack the manager and start the cycle all over again.

Think we need to be looking at Gibson here.
Not going to change whilst he's in charge and why should he? Ultimately he makes the decisions and granted he hasn't gone one right since bringing in Karanka. There are multiple good young managers about who play progressive football, Wilder has been found out, his tactics are now not 'new' and we continue to play long ball football and he will blame the 'weight of the shirt'. Wilder out.

Annoying thing is we need 15 opportunities to register a goal.
The opposition, unfortunately, just need 1 or 2.
The Football Gods hate us.

Spending 70% of our expenditure on players who the manager doesn’t want, does seem an odd choice.

As well as swapping Tav for Mowatt, and pocketing £10m + the £12m for Spence too.
