* The Unofficial “Official” Boro v Norwich [03/24] Match-Day Thread *

Engel was poor when they had 11 on the pitch, especially in our half, nobody was praising him then. A few others were no better, but it’s not an excuse for any of them.

But can’t argue with his ball into the box, which led to a goal, and his goal. Would have hoped keeper would have done better if I was them, but glover would have let that in too.
All bar Howson were poor when they had XI on the pitch. Engel's a scapegoat

Always liked Engel, he's got bottle to see off the stick he gets, amd always give his all, always looking to get involved, he can create the spark for others and the crowd, yes he makes some errors but I think he will improve further in time.

I kind of get the impression he's trying to play how he played in Denmark, which is why we bought him, but just isn't quite used to the pace etc of the championship yet

If he can adjust we might have a quality player on our hands

Can't fault his attitude, even if he does make mistakes

I was 👋🏻

You'd hope that the time and space we've been granted courtesy of the refs decision will boost our confidence. We've certainly knocked it about a lot faster if not as accurately as you'd want.

I don’t get how people call Barlaser a bad passer, had only been on the pitch 30 seconds then played a perfect ball no other would/ could.

If there are runners/ targets to hit, he’ll find them.

He can do it when there’s no one pressing him. It’s when he’s under pressure he’s very careless.

He needs time and space.

Yeah, it doesn’t help him when we’ve missed a ball winner or someone behind covering, so he’s not on the same line as the oppo’s main press. He’s like a deep lying playmaker, but like most, he does need space to spray it about.
