I disgaree. The ref has to referee as he sees it. Trying to second guess via VAR changes the game even more.The ref had to give a yellow and if wrong upgrade it to a red through VAR if necessary but game has been spoilt.
The ref gives a red as from his position he hasn't seen exactly how the contact was made. The studs up were away from the player and the swing of the leading leg was never towards the player he collided with. Not dangerous in my opinion. VAR should have asked the ref to look. They've made a decision that they're not supposed to make.
