The Saudi banner yesterday....

Hope we get promoted and get to give them a proper display next season and slap them like Liverpool did Man United last night 😍

If we get promoted, and if our match against them is live on Sky next season, we should have a flag day.

Yemeni Flags, Thousands of them. No need for banners. Just Yemeni flags. Lets see Sky squirm ;)
I’d rather see Boro flags - much more relevant

Don’t know about anyone else but my local news is pumped full of geordie content. It was unbearable the week before their final. Maybe that’s why Teesside’s notice the toon. So not so weird.
Sportswashing aside…..

Good.
I`m glad it keeps the question of legitimate ethical ownership of football to the forefront.
We have evidence of people buying and selling football clubs as a commodity and a vehicle for raking millions into individual pockets.
We have tyrants - with whom our bomb factories freely trade weapons.
We have Geordie idiots making fun, wearing tea-towels on their heads, making light of a tyranny which criminalises and beheads dissenters, beheads those who protest - including minors, and treats women as second class citizens.
There is much we use and consume from questionable sources, but when its as plain as the head on your shoulders - its a serious issue and cant be ignored.

In the past (70s) half of Teesside (like me dad) worked Tax-Free in Saudi for decades. We even all moved out there as a family for 5 years. Lived all that time in Rhahima near Ras Tanura where dad worked.

I’ve lived in the place, it was grim back then. They are obviously trying to modernise, and I understand this “sportswashing” rhetoric. But I believe that a lot of Teessiders have benefited from Saudi generosity over the years, and that’s not to mention their recent investments in Teesside.

So, all in all, I don’t agree with that banner. I think it’s potentially a bit hypocritical as far as I’m concerned. Sorry.

Absolutely nothing close to half of Teesside, and times change. I'm sure it's not hypocritical for the majority of fans, especially the age of those in the south stand

My dad worked out there in the 70's for Aramco and he benefitted from tax free earnings, I think he had gained his engineering skills at Smith's Docks and when that work had dried up he had to look elsewhere.
What my dad did doesn't hold me to what he did, I'm free to feel repulsed by what is going on and will voice it.

The one thing they haven’t yet realised is that their Saudi benefactor with questionable ethics and dubious morals could just as easily turn into a despotic tyrant. Ironic eh.

They chant they’ve got their club back but they couldn’t be more wrong.

Imagine if putin tried to buy Hartlepool it sounds crazy but that is exactly what MBS is.
You are so outraged you chose to holiday in the region last year. Dooderooni sums it up. :(
