The Saudi banner yesterday....

Strange take but each to his own…

I don't think it's a strange take at all.

Seems you're trying to say that Middlesbrough fans can't be too critical of Newcastle's ownership because they've invested money on Teesside.

I do not spend weekends at Wilton cheering on the chemical workers, or have any real connection to it or SABIC bar proximity.

It's just irrelevant deflection from Newcastle fans because they know that their ownership is deeply unpleasant.

I think it’s strange going to watch the Boro but fixating on another team who aren’t even in the same division. Also comparing not winning a trophy to executions? Really?

They are pointing a lens on bad ownership in football. Doesn't matter WHO is owned by the Saudis. I think we can all agree it's a bad thing for them to be sport washing like this.

Here's an alternative view from those who only see things in black and white.

I wonder did he take the time to write such a lengthy article about the "weirdness" of Crystal Palace fans when they unveiled their banner, and went to the same extent to emphasise why Palace as a club are so irrelevant to Newcastle fans.

It's a shame that like Sunderland fans, they can't grasp that we dislike them because of their fans chanting about us being child abusers, and also for their general arrogance. We haven't just chosen to dislike them randomally, as some sort of attempt to manufacture a rivarly.

They are and always have been thin skinned and humourless fckers when it comes to people laughing at their "massive" club, that linked article is a good example of the fact, the local media reaction to the "Trophy Virgins" banner was another.

Every time you put fuel in your car you are more often than not putting money into a Saudi bank account. How does that fit morality wise?

It’s just some humour mate after weeks of local TV telling us to drool with excitement over the big club that everyone should love.
Banter, look it up love.

I’ll cheer on any investment in Teesside but I’m old. We’re lucky and unique to have a great local owner unlike most clubs but it’ll probably change one day and we’ll run with it.

Got to agree. The Geordies and the little ‘not Geordies’ are the most boring humourless fans in football constantly taking themselves far too seriously.
Hand on hip, stamp your foot, you can’t say that, we’re massive…

"comparing not winning a trophy to executions"
Are you serious?

Yeah when the goverment strike deals with the Saudi's, or when filling our cars, Boro fans are out celebrating and wearing the traditional clothing....

Your whole angle on jobs or fuel is a total false equivalence. People probably aren't comfortable with it, but they need jobs, and they need fuel to get to their jobs. It's a whole different ball game to actively celebrating your football club being taken over by a murderous regime for them to use as a tool in their propaganda.

Numerous paragraphs waffling without at any point addressing the actual message of the banner. Complete and utter drivel.

Did amuse me at the beginning where he said he only knows three things about Boro, and one of them being attendances! Typical Mag, pays more attention to how many people are in a stadium, even one he claims not to know anything about, rather than actual football!

That has to have been written by a teenager. It addresses none of the concerns of Saudi ownership and instead is paragraphs of 'we don't care about'. Boro fans don't care about Newcastle either. This is more about calling out blatant hypocrisy. Mike Ashley was the devil incarnate, but the Saudi's are benevolent owners. Get phuqin real.

Who really cares what biased local TV stations say? And if that’s banter forgive me if my sides don’t split …
