I'm not bothered what position the penalty taker plays. Should be someone who can deal with the pressure and strikes the ball cleanly.
What is more important that there is a clear penalty taker and a deputy. In the event that both of those players aren't on the pitch for whatever reason, the captain should be taking control of the situation.
Either it hasn't been clear who the penalty taker is and in that case Carrick should have had it sorted. Or one of Greenwood/Lath have gone rogue and Carrick wants to give them a boot up the hole
