In just this thread you bring two memories rushing into my mind. In about 1990 I was interrailing in Europe and was travelling through Hungary. I'd stepped out of my compartment as it was early in the morning, I was sharing it with a family which included a kid who kept crying. In the corridor I pulled down a seat and watched the snow filled forest pass by. I became aware a very big fellow had also come into the corridor and taken a seat. He kept staring at me. Over the next 15-20 minutes he moved seat by seat towards me. Then he stood up, towering over me, and said in heavily accented english "Right now I would really like UPEX pie." I looked him in the eye and asked "Big one with meat and gravy? Or little pork pie, two bites big?" He broke into a huge smile and exclaimed almost joyfully "You know UPEX pie." He clapped me on my back. "You know Middlesboroch?"
"My town Middlesboroch" I told him.
"I like Middlesboroch," he told me. "people are good. Friendly? Yes?"
"Yes'" I confirmed and offered him a handshake. He shook my hand like we were long lost friends.
"You wait here." Then he headed off to where he'd come from and a few minutes later returned with his bag, sat at the seat next to me and produced a bottle. "Vodka. From Russia." He took the lid off and offered me the first drink. I took it and raised it in toast to "Middlesbroch." I passed it back. He raised it again "UPEX!" We stayed there a good few hours polishing off the bottle and smiling. Turned out he'd been to Boro a few times while a merchant seaman and really loved it. Friendliest port town in the UK he said. I can't really remember much beyond that as the vodka stole all my memories.
And my Dutch memory? I spent a couple of hours walking round Amsterdam's Madame Tussaud's. Not somewhere I'd usually visit but the hotel I was staying in had some sort of free entry deal with them. I didn't recognize anyone. They were obviously figures from Dutch politics and recent history. My relief when I saw 2 Unlimited was palpable.

Before the Euros started I predicted (not on here) the final would be Spain v England. We'll know our potential opponents by the time we kick off and honestly, I just can't see past Spain winning the trophy.

Got to get past the Dutch first. Defensively suspect and hit and miss finishing, they won't give us the time on the ball that Switzerland and Slovakia did. We will have to really step it up on Wednesday night or we're going home.

Am I missing something with the opening picture? I like a pie as much as the next man but how is it relevant?

I'm glad I read this, as I was just about make myself look a tvvat by posting said witty post.

Looking forward to this and what a stadium to playing it in.

Holland will attack us so hopefully we can find a bit more space than we have thus far. However, we have to be on it. Particularly Kyle Walker as Gakpo is on it and looking their biggest threat.

I really hope we can take the lead, i cant handle going behind again.

Big game on Wednesday. It’s been a while since England played the Dutch. The last time they beat us 2 - 1 in the Nations League Semi Final in Portugal. Let’s hope we can beat them this time.

It was actually a 3-1 defeat in Portugal.

You beat them in a friendly in Amsterdam in 2018 with a Jesse Lingard goal. Remember him?
