The Merlin Billingham To start Doing Takeaways

Had a fajita parmo there a couple of weeks back. Superb stuff. One of the best parmos around for sure. Couple of tidy barmaids aswell (y)

We had a takeaway from the Tuns in Sadberge and it was excellent - I had a ribeye steak and it was very good - plus they deliver free over £50 and had a discount offer on too

Would use again.

Dorset, would probably be cold by it arrived 🤣. did you go on merlin before you moved?

Yeah, a mate used to live up the road when I lived in Acklam, so we used to meet up for the Boro games in there, have food and a beer then head off to the Riverside.

The Merlin's food will only get better with the lad who's back in charge.

The only thing with lockdown pub takeaways, do they reduce the prices accordingly, to reflect a takeaway or are you still paying for the ambience of a sit down restaurant meal???

The meals are reasonable anyway we get 2 Sunday lunches and they are the best around, the roast beef is lovely and it's £17 for the 2 which is not exactly expensive.
People need to support these local businesses or they won't be there in the future.
The only pubs left will be the likes of wetherspoons, which are not a community boozer.

They don’t have to pay VAT - it is up to them whether they pass that saving on tho

The point is SHOW LOCAL BUSINESSES SUPPORT , The Merlin is one of the few pubs that still gets enough Boro fans in to do a coach to home games and away trips aswell.
Without these pubs for many the Saturday at the match would not be the same

Yes but they would still be getting the money if the prices were reasonable, in the same token many of it’s regular client base may be on 80% wages, you can’t expect people to be paying restaurant prices in the current climate either, community hub or no community hub.

Prices are reasonable and I'm sure they'll adjust menu and prices accordingly.
My point is if you can, you should were possible support local businesses.
I'm not trying to prove any point in what people charge.
The Merlin does great food and having to shut again will need support from its locals like similar pubs wiil.

Loved The Merlin in the 70’s, candles on the tables during the “3 day week” times, my wife worked there as a barmaid during her holidays while at university, happy days. Tommy Turner was the landlord then.

It is a really good boozer now the landlord paul & land lady Sara are really doing a good job, especially in these difficult times
