The Gentlemen

Compton Abbas... was nice before he bought it... now its nice but expensive lol

you are dead right! - I take my dementia'd mum there - we buy take away coffee in the kfc at shaftesbury, and take it there and watch the planes come & go - its a great spot

5 episodes in and it's great.

Really silly stuff though, takes me back to watching Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (the film, not the series which was rubbish.)

I used to sit next to guy in the office when he was a music video director. He so wants to be a gangster himself. He was obsessed with violence ... was decent at Taekwando if I remember rightly. He always dealt in stereotypes in his music vids, and doesn't seem to have altered in 30 years of movie making. To be fair, he has done quite nicely out of it.

And to be fair, he doesn't have to. All of his stuff is a) entertaining b) funny, and c) not meant to be taken seriously I don't think

Not all films and tv series have to be "challenging"

No, indeed. Though in those early days, his racial/ethnic stereotyping was somewhat dubious.

I think once you realise its so far fetched and it's just entertaining you enjoy it more.
Agreed. Bonkers, some fine acting, funny one liners, quite sad at times. Types of scenes that the Americans would love - stately homes, Aristocracy etc.. Liked the ending...set up nicely for another mad second series (y)

I sacked Episode 1 off after about half an hour, but then decided to just crack on. I love the film so was really worried that this might not be as good. It isn't, but that's because I've realised it's different. Longer format so not as punchy as his films normally are and that took some getting used to. All the other Ritchie ingredients are there though, but there's still one thing I don't like and that's Theo James. Just cannot get away with him.
