The end?

Not convinced this will work out the way Putin planned. He's looking to assert authority, now has his revenge on Progozhin but it could cause a massive unrest. He might have massively miscalculated here.

Some extra from earlier ... obvs our man didn't foretell of Prigozhin's fate.
Seems he wasn't in Africa after all.

"When the war started in 2014 Russia took control of the oilplatforms near Crimea.
They transformed one of them into an advanced listening platform for surveilance of maritime traffic in and out of Ukraine.
Later they took Snake Island, but that was liberated fairly early on by Ukraine.

Remained did the armed listening platform outside of Crimea, from there Russia could dictate shipping and relay info on Ukrainian ships, drones, etcetera.
It was not possible to attack it outright with missiles and drones due to the risk for oil spills.

This morning Ukrainian patrolboats with marine soldiers stormed the platform.
During the fight a Russian SU-30 tried to attack the boats, but turned back as the patrolboats opened fire with RBS-07 manpads.

Obviously this means even more Happy Budanov Noises.

Helicopter
A russian Mi-8 helicopter crew contacted GUR and asked for instructions to surrender.
They followed them and handed over the helicopter and themselves.
It is the first helicopter to surrender directly to the Ukrainians."

I wonder what uncle Luka will make of this and what's left of the Wagner Group, but looks like Putin is asserting his authority with Girkin locked up and General Surovkin(spelt?) relieved of his duties

Mate not 100% convinced Prigo was on board yet (has requested clarification from intel). There was a second Prigo plane following the first, which turned back to Moscow.
Utkin confirmed.

Well the plane was definitely shot down on purposed. Apparently Prigozhin had a habit of getting registered on one flight then taking another ... hence lack of certainty.

Just said on another thread, how can anyone be sure he was on it. Could this just another staged event and he turns up somewhere else in time.

Ref: the Helicopter arrival, it appears to be another Budanov success. Pilots family already exfiltrated out of Ruzzia, packed with spare jet parts, the two other Z lads in the helicopter objected when they realised where they had landed and were dealt with.

Big debate now about the noises coming from America about the success/failure of the Ukraine counter attack.

The mood is swinging behind those who put their names to best guesses that to all intents follow the Swedish colonels best guesses and increasing scorn on the anonymous intelligence sources that the NYT and WaPo are relying on.

Bit of soul searching going on that perhaps the American military needs a bit of humility on how things should happen given they have not actually faced a hot war of this intensity for over 70 years especially with one arm tied behind their backs regarding the right weaponry being delivered on time.
