His thoughts tonight.

"I guess that you all by now have heard about Prigozhins Embraer Praetor 600 being shot down by Russian Air Defence over Tver Oblast.
In the plane was 3 crew, 6 passangers + Utkin, the neo-nazi commander and former Spetznas Officer.
Many sources state that Prigozhin was also onboard.

Here it should be noted that it is exactly 60 days since the Wagner Mutiny.

We are not sure, and there is no official confirmation of this, and there's also som other evidence pointing towards him having gotten away from this assassination attempt by either Putin or Shoigu (nobody else would dare do it).

According to TASS and ROSAVIA Prigozhin was listed as a passenger on the airplane.
But, another of Prigozhin's Jets, a Dassault Falcon Long Range took of shortly after the other.
This one has unlimited E-TOPS due to being a triple engine aircraft, and is normally Prigozhin's prefered choice over the other gaudier one since it has range needed to fly to Africa.
It is the plane he arrived on from Africa.

It is said that he and Utkin attended a meeting with the general staff, purportedly to discuss the situation in Belarus and Africa.

Utkins body has been visually confirmed at the crash site (the close-ups are not for the faint of heart, Utkin was a rather uggly man to begin with).
There is no confirmation as of now of Prigozhins body being found.

The Dassault Falcon returned to Moscow directly after the Embraer was shot down and landed.
There are here conflicting rumours that Rozgvardia detained him upon landing at the airport.
The detainment is not confirmed either.

These were the facts as of now, and also some speculations.
I tried to separate them as well as possible.

Edit: A trustworthy source has stated that Prigozhin died in the crash based on Russian internal information (FSB).

Motif & Means
Putin obviously had both of those, but his modus operandi is heavily into using FSB killers instead of brute forcing it like this.
I instead lean towards this being Shoigu acting on his own.
Using military assets like an Air Defence System is truly his MO.

There is though a bit of an outsider here.
I am obviously talking about Strelkov.
He also has the contacts to do it, and at least purportedly has used Air Defence Systems to take down large airplanes.
I am saying purportedly since the trial against him obviously will have to be redone in the end if he is brought to the Netherlands, he was after all sentenced without being heard and without defence present.
Note, I am not saying that he is not guilty, it is though some legalistic things that must be fulfilled for justice to be served.

Of these 3 Strelkov and Shoigu hated him more than Putin, not that Putin liked him.

Consequences
If Prigozhin is alive, then he will go after Putin and Shoigu.

If he is dead it will be somewhat interesting to see if anyone can take over Wagner.
With Utkin dead this would befal on General Mikhail Mizintsev.
Mizintsev is number 3 in the organization.

For Africa this will be something positive in the short term at least.
It will take Russia quite some time to take control of the situation there, it is here important to understand that Russia has NO regular army assets or command in Africa, it was all done by Wagner.

Conclusion
This is obviously early hours, and it will take at least 48 hours before we know for sure what exactly happened and who did it. Africa is the most interesting part to understand.

This will obviously further destabilise Russia, and there will be many in Wagner who will vote for going for revenge.
At best/worst there will be several smaller bands of them plotting to kill Shoigu/Gerasimov/Putin.
And remember that the real Wagner, the good soldiers are still alive and well.
Bakhmut was mostly eating up prisoners, not the hard core.
Russia will become even more interesting in the next few days, weeks and months."
 
Two updates that landed after I went to the land of nod.

"We still do not have confirmation on Prigozhin's death.
The Dassault Falcon landed at an unusual airport near Moscow compared to where he would usually fly to.

The Wagner Headquarters is completely empty, but the lights of the building somehow automatically changed and is now projecting a cross across the facade made out of how the lights in the rooms inside is turned on.

All Wagner forces have gone radio silent, and have cut all mobile phone communication around the compounds.
There are signs that the Wagner in at least Belarus is breaking camp.

Putin was holding a celebratory speech at the Concert celebrating the victory of Kursk, mid speech he was cut short by an aidee, paled and ran out.
His cortege took him straight to the airport and onwards to Valdai Fortress, complete with goat.

It is well known that Wagner had a plan for if Prigozhin was killed, or Utkin.
We have indications that it is in place now.

Something went spectacularly pear-shaped we believe.
Very few people are out on the streets in Moscow.
It is unclear if that is due to this event, or if it is due to the numerous drones that are slaming into buildings in Central Moscow (3 hits so far, more on the way).

The drones are obviously not related to Prigozhin, they are due to the extended and inclusive Ukraine Flag Day celebrations orchestrated by Budanov.
More on that later.
Expect things to go boom on that front.

"Prigo
Wagner has confirmed that they have no confirmation on Prigo being dead.
They did though state that they will take Moscow if confirmed.

Robotyne
Novorprokopivka has fallen, Solodka Balka is in cleanup.
On the left flank the 21st has moved on from Verbove and reached Ocheretuvate and have started to clean up the garrison there.
The 21st is expected to move out tomorrow from Ocheretuvate and follow roughly the T0401 Road that goes unimpeded directly to Tokmak from the East.
Ukraine still has problems with being infront of several units that are trying to withdraw under fire, units surrendering, and some units that are trying to fight in position.
The picture is clear, there is confusion in the Russian command structure after the hit of the Tokmak military command.

FSB in Tokmak has fled to Sevastopol, they did not even stop in Melitopol.
This was a bit rude of them, I know that Budanov had such nice plans for them.

Moscow
Air Raid sirens are now howling in the centermost parts of Moscow as explosions rock the city and people are trying to get into locked air raid shelters while looking skywards for falling debris and air defence rockets crashing.
Seems like sectors of the air defence have broken down somehow, there are way to many drones getting through now."

Mornin update

"Prigo
The confusion continues on all sides.
My guess is that my source was correct and that he is dead.
But, not even he has seen proof of Prigo having bitten the dust.
We have also not seen what Wagner is up to.
All we know that there is a lot of activity and that they are up to something.

Zavitne Bazhannya (Cherished Desire)
This must be my new favourite name of a village/town, such a beautiful name.
We now have a new record in the surrendering game.
An entire battalion surrendered outright south of Zavitne Bazhannya.
They claimed dehydration and hunger as the main reason for their surrender.
So, they expressed a Cherished Desire to live and gave up.

This battalion was the one defending the Northern Side of Staromlyni'vka.
Expect the videos of flags hoisted to drop soon.
The Kraken was just gearing up to storm their positions when white underpants, well somewhat white, on sticks was hoisted along the contact line.

Russia is definitely cracking faster and faster now.

Tokmak
The Hot24 on Tokmak has started, the 47th and 82nd are pouring it in from North, and the 21st is doing the same from due East.
At the same time Azov Brigade is handing up the mopup to new infantry battalions to get ready for the storming of what remains of the defence lines.

Tokmak is reported to be understaffed since a lot of the units had been sent to Robotyne where they got killed, surrendered, or are trying to flee from.
Tank Girl claims that she could have it done and dusted today, but that it would claim the lives of to many civilians.

There will be a lot of videos later on, there is literally a thousand drones above the city doing target drops of grenades and target spotting for the heavy artillery doing precission strikes.
Tokmak is up there with the Battle of Kyiv and the Battle of Kharkiv in importance, perhaps even more so.
Ukraine is pushing in more and more reserves now to push home the victory, when Tokmak is taken it is over for the Russians in this region, the rest is just mopping up of remnant forces on the road to Melitopol.

Rifle
While everyone else are feasting their eyes on the drones that dropped down on Moscow during the night XXXX found a very special video from Ukraine to Sweden.
It was odd to spot both my CV90 and my former tank.
But, the icing on the cake was that my extra Rifle that I privately donated was in the video.

As Swedish Weapons Porn goes it is great.
There are also happy 21st'ers in the video smiling.

sounds like things are really starting to happen now, here's hoping. personally, I struggle with videos etc that mix music and war, and make it all rock n roll (even tho its abba). being a completely non military minded person, I find making weapons etc sexy doesn't sit comfortably, but I do get that military people need and have a different mindset.

Yep, I get that. Some of my mates phrasing makes me wince too, but I know it's a coping strategy ... like black humour in a hospital surgery theatre.
 
Ok. Finally confirmation. He has been asleep, as you will read.

"We now have evidence of the death of Prigozhin.
His body has been identified and proven to be him.
This has been confirmed both through extra judicial means and from members of Wagner that also identified the body in the morgue.

The type of evidence and sources involved has made us as certain as can be that he is dead.

Retaliation
Previously people claiming to be leaders of Wagner had stated that there would not be any retaliation, this was though immediately understood as a Russian PsyOp to try and hinder what will be coming.

Two hours after Wagner had confirmed the death of Prigozhin the remaining comand issued and order for attack set to 19.00 hours on the 26th of August 2023 Rostov time.
It was issued with the correct control codes visavi the pre-planned order for if Prigozhin was killed.
The attack order has been verified by sources inside Wagner.
The details are still unknown of how it will be done, but the directive is clearly stated.
To kill everyone involved in the murder of Prigozhin and avenge his death fully.

Next One
It has been confirmed that General and Senator Gurulev has been car-crashed until deconstruction occured.
He was the highest ranking senator in the Duma belonging to the "War Party", and so far he is the highest ranking War Party member to be happily atomized.

This leaves basically low level people and Patrushev/Shoigu in the War Party.
We have to go back to the days of Stalin where; Policy Doctrine Change by Liquidation, was performed on this scale.

Methinks that Skabaeva, Solovyov, Mardan and Simonyeva should tone things down now... war is seemingly so passé that you might self-combust if you talk about war and winning the war.

Cherry Cake
I had planned for a little update, but once more things are highly confusing so I am waiting untill the fog clears a bit.
It does not help that I have not slept for 36 hours (well, I had a 2 hour cake induced coma session).

The chocolate cherry cake was fabulous, with it was served a glas of homemade cherry brandy (Yum), problem was that the cake was also drenched with crerry brandy...
I barely made it to bed before I fell asleep.
Mental reminder, babushkas know how to make "strong" cakes. :)

They will return home in a few days, they are rather stubborn on that part.
A few grenades is nothing to worry about according to them, and having removed the artillery at least for now there is not much I can do to dissuade them.
I will though place an Archer and some light air defence near the village together with a few boys and some from the engineer's to help out rebuild the worst damages.

When I tried to have opinions they grabbed their handbags in the same manner my maternal grandmother used to do, so we compromised that they would go home when they jolly well please.
Hey, I got bribed with cake promises.
Cake or Handbag incentives and all.
I know to pick my battles. :)

In other news
Russia today claimed that they had missiled the Ukrainian MOD and GUR building flattening them totally and killing the military leadership of Ukraine.
Why perform military actions when you can just tell the gullible Russian population about it?

@borolad259 how does your mate think this will effect the current tensions in Africa? With pretty much all senior management taken out and the rest in uproar obviously priority will of changed. And it seems Russia via Wagner PMC have if not directly involved in the current tensions then at least played a part in the background.
