Ah the old ‘working hard’ defence.

We’ve had a few of those strikers who work hard but don’t feckin score.
It’s a team game, striker goals tallies don’t determine league position, total points does, and that’s determined by about 20 attributes, and a style which fits those.

Look how far we’ve come with hard work by our strikers, which is necessary for the style we play. In an ideal world a quick, hard working goalscorer would be good, but if they had all those attributes they would be unlikely to be playing in this league, never mind a north east team that isn’t exactly rich.

I’d rather have the results/ points than a 20 goal striker.

Were we helped by our non-scoring/hard-working strikers? Didn’t think so.

Call me old fashioned, but a strikers job is to score, and ours don’t.
