I did suspect as much mate, though there is no proactive work this week, no calls, just reacting to anything coming in, so I doubt there will be much snooping by the grown ups….I love them. Never take them off work. Never any work to do.
I know it's probably a joke but you should be aware that teams has built in activity reports and lot of workplaces use remote monitoring software to know what employees do with their time, so even using physical products like key pressers and mouse jigglers won't make it look like you're busy if you aren't
I had to go through a process about 10 years ago as a member of the team I managed got caught printing a bet out. Had to request his access history and even then it showed a dashboard of what strange visited, how long for, keystrokes per hour, documents opened etc, imagine now it can tell you all sorts. In teams I know there is reporting on productive time and can summaries how many chats, apps opened, files opened, meetings smartened, average meeting length and so on.
Probably doesn't matter when it's quiet like now but worth knowing
A walk in really horrible weather can be surprisingly invigorating. I took the opportunity yesterday to take the dog out when the rain had eased to a drizzle of course by the furthest point of my walk the heavens opened and when I got back both of us were like drowned rats. However, sitting down after towelling the dog and changing out of my wet clothes with a mug of coffee I felt good. If you have some halfway decent wet weather gear just take a walk to the shops for a pint of milk or go and have a look at the flooded fields or the river in flood. It's all good. Then sit yourself down with a book or start doing some searching for your summer holiday. But most of all take care of yourself and don't beat yourself up.Effing miserable weather this year making it worse. Who wants to go out in this?
Loads of footie, good call. It's my favourite period, spoilt by the weather so far this time. Have some nights out and visit people, get some mountain biking done. Boro matches, darts on TV, record fair in Boro etc.
While this is true the reality is that nobody is bothered about checking you for productivity but it's much more likely a manager might have a glance every now and again and if they see "Away for 60 mins" instead of "Online" they might keep an eye on you themselves so the mouse wiggling keeps that sort of attention away. It's the wfh equivalent of looking busy when a manager comes in the room when you are working in an office.I love them. Never take them off work. Never any work to do.

I wouldn't work for any company that did this. Assuming you get paid to do a job, and you do it in a timely fashion and produce quality an employer shouldn't care. While this is true the reality is that nobody is bothered about checking you for productivity but it's much more likely a manager might have a glance every now and again and if they see "Away for 60 mins" instead of "Online" they might keep an eye on you themselves so the mouse wiggling keeps that sort of attention away. in 20 odd years at my workplace the only time I know that such software has been used is when someone committed a fraud and got away with £30kI wouldn't work for any company that did this. I have seen monitoring of emails before and I know that Infosys track secure documents so you can't email them to personal accounts or move them to drop box or google drive.in 20 odd years at my workplace the only time I know that such software has been used is when someone committed a fraud and got away with £30k
The WFH is an interesting one.
For my team, we generally work to deadlines as we are involved in capacity planning / scheduling and projects. Christmas is very much a non entity for us as we get ahead on the run up to Christmas which allows us to take more leave and have a couple working each day to cover the opening hours of our area.
I sent a couple of weekly reports yesterday but beyond that, got about 2 e-mails and a couple of teams messages. I wouldn’t expect my team to be that productive at this time of year but we bust our balls early December and there’s little for us to so until next year now.
As a general point though, I have one lad I manage and he appears “away” on teams more than I would like but he gets his work done and never misses a deadline. I do have to raise it though as other people in the team spot it and think he’s taking the pish.
If we were in the office, he’d be the same person constantly chatting chite to the people around him - he’s easily distracted and I imagine that happens at home too. I could do some further digging and get reports from HR etc. but I think that’d do more damage than good.
It’d be different if work wasn’t getting done. It’s just something to balance off but I like to manage people and show them a degree of trust.
glad you are all enjoying it with your families.
Try being on your own.

And I’m also annoyed Boro’s fixtures are two away games that I had no chance of gettting ticket for. And a home game on NYD.
Bah humbug.
Oh and I’m stuck at home today waiting for a parcel to come.
I quite like them. Work is more chilled than normal and most things are open after boxing day aren't they? Not a great fan of darkness at 4pm but have got used to it by the end of DecAwful aren’t they?
The weather is crap
It’s dark at 4pm
Nowhere’s open.
If I lived anywhere near a beach I would probably do the same.Well I have been out for a for a walk on the beach every day for the past week in the storms and the rain. If you wear proper clothes you can enjoy getting out in any weather.
The waves crashing yesterday were particularly therapeutic.
