The "Blue Wall"...

She's being used. Things will get very bad, she'll be jettisoned before the next election to try and capitalise on whatever bounce they get from the change and campaign on that.

A very risky strategy, and one that shows how insignificant doing the best for their constituents is compared to keeping their winning streak going.

I'm no big Truss fan, far from it, but I do feel a little sorry for her.

Getting pelters from everywhere, pushed into a job (either by others telling her she can do it, knowing full well she can't, or by her own misguided opinion of her abilities), a bit like some football managers we have had experience of.

It can't be good for her mental health, unless of course she has an extremely thick skin, or is a complete narcissist (see previous incumbent)

I saw a tweet yesterday saying Starmer didn't really know how to deal with Truss at PMQ's yet as it was like trying to explain trigonometry to a Labrador. I think the tweeter had a point and Truss is so deluded she probably thinks she's doing a good job. They live in a bubble.

But in all fairness I have no sympathy for a crank like her to get into power with no general election, crash the economy, put hard right nuts like Braverman in top posts and make the whole country poorer. Jail would be better, not sympathy.

I can hand on heart say I don’t believe the polls

Not because we saw they were manipulated last year in the news

Or that we were told by the Guardian polls that if Jeremy backs a second referendum he will win the general election

But because these places have always turned first to the Libs before labour

They literally do not make sense

Poor Exiled just can't bring himself to admit that Starmer might just get into power with a BIG majority.

The Libs are gone - they get no airtime. People have realised that to get the Tories out there is only one party to vote for - Labour. I have been trying to tell you this for months. A vote for another party is a vote for the Tories.

Did anyone see Channel 4 news last night? They had the Editor of the US version of the FT on. She was brutal about current government policy and said it was b***ks that government policy has not impacted current financial market reaction to the Sterling and government debt.

Surely even the most hard-core blue blooded Tory can now see they've been a disaster for the country for 12 years. It's been shocking decisions and after shocking decisions, lies, cheating and a total mismanagement of the economy. The economy which they've falsely claimed to be the best at managing.

I must admit I share some of your sentiments and but then I think of the people who are facing greater hikes in their mortgage payments than is necessary in normal market conditions. I think of her comments about Macron during her campaign. Her almost instantly abandoned threat to regionalise public service pay. These are just a few of the examples why she should be nowhere the H of P let alone 10 Downing Street.

....or her rapidly changing her mind on Brexit when it became clear it would benefit her personally. She's made her bed, she can lie in it.

Is there not a case for tactical voting though? Genuine question because I'm looking to address past mistakes.

I've just moved to an area with a Lib Dem MP, she and the Tory she was up against got around 30000 votes each. The labour candidate got 5000. I'm concerned if I vote labour here it'll be wasted. Or is bridging the gap important and hoping the Lib Dem beats the Tory ?

If I was you I would vote for the candidate more likely to beat the Tory

That will be massively damaging for Truss and the Tories, it’s a disaster for her.
It is bad, however, I would like to point out there is absolutely no reason why a 'ceremonial' monarch should be meeting the prime minister every week. The monarchy is political and this has to stop.

Tactical voting will be important at the next GE. Ideally, I would like to see Labour sign up to at least a "non-aggression" pact in constituencies where the battle is LD v Con. In a perfect world there would be an "Anti-Tory" coalition where LD and Lab did not field candidates in areas where doing so might let in a Tory and this would be on the promise of Electoral Reform in the next Parliament.

I agree but then again I am a Republican, I was more meaning this would not go down well in the Tory core vote.

Yes, always a case for it - I think I was meaning in the wider context. Be interesting to see your local polling though as it looks like Tories are switching to Labour rather than the Libs. Strange times.

Can't find polling results, but this article suggests she'll be the only none Labour MP in the capital. It'd be interesting to see how close labour poll before the next GE though
