I don’t think Jimmy has ever been “very average” and there’s still time to make his mark on the series, assuming he keeps his place! Surely we picked him for this test thinking he would suit the conditions? But yes, nowt from him so far.

The Australian team are in full control. It has been a bad day for us bowling. They are scoring at a rate of 4 now, it was under 2. They are taking us apart.

Can’t see us coming back from this. Would the Aussie bowlers have struggled today? No mainline spinner to come into play in second innings either.

We need to see how we do on this wicket with the bat but I’m not confident. Lose the Test and Ashes is gone. That would be a shame as we were all hoping for a cracking close series.

Wouldn’t quite go that far. It could still be 5-0 or 3-2 or anything in between. If we go 2 down I wouldn’t say the series is totally over although anything better than a drawn series does look unlikely (if we lose this match, which we haven’t yet).
