The absence of Becks

Anyone else noticed how Becks has practically disappeared from both the fridges of pubs, and the shelves of supermarkets, across the country ?

My local Waitrose, Sainsburys and Morrisons all no longer stock it (although Morrisons do sell Becks Blue the 0% version).

You can get a strawberry milkshake flavoured double IPA in most pubs these days, but the humble Becks seems to have been consigned to history alongside Harp, Norseman and K cider in the great off licence in the sky ?

Bought the young un a box just before Christmas, he has one with his tea when he is home. Lidl flog Becks just inside the door reception part, I normally go there for flowers. When he opened them they were tiny slim bottles, OK to have with a meal.

According to the Internet:
So who owns Beck's? Beck's was owned by the same German family until 2001, when it was acquired by Belgium-based brewing company Interbew for a princely sum of 1.8 billion euros. Then in 2004 Interbrew merged with AmBev to form InBev, which merged with Anheuser-Busch in 2008 to become Anheuser-Busch InBev.

can you still get grolsch these days?

and what happened to Metz! the judder man!

Grolsch went away for a couple of years (I didn't notice TBH) but came back.

Yes, I haven't seen any (Beck's) for yonks other than the alcohol-free stuff. Can't say I miss it. And where did Madri come from all of a sudden? Well, in the last couple of years anyroad.

Is it just me or did the quality decline. I used to not mind a bottle, think it's awful now.
Did the taste decline or was there just more choice?

Not so long back everyone was drinking Stella, these things seem to go in fads until something new comes along. Now we have a fridge full of the IPA that Lizard mentions.
