Teesside Airshow… more like Teesside **** Show

Wife works in Darlo supposed to start at 10:30am didn't arrive at her work till 11:50am is the government gonna repay her hourly rate she missed out on. Poor show

This thread does for once represent the people of our town. They moan about everything. A day out for over 20,000 enjoying themselves and what do the people on this board do, moan about it.

I have known for weeks about the possible traffic problems, the road signs have been telling me. First it was the Killers concert and recently the air show.

Someone above brought politics into it, it's sod all to do with politics, maybe a bit of bad planning by the council and definitely people who needed to go to Darlington and Yarm.


To make everyone on here happy, all fairs should be banned, all matches on a Saturday as it causes parking problems, all future concerts. Let's just sit in and watch Netflix.

If it took me 4 Hours to drive 4 miles and there were no park n ride or trains or shuttle buses from town centres I'd be entitled to moan pal.

Good job the emergency services didn't get blocked today by all the traffic.

And you can guarantee if it had been a successful event houchen would have been all over social media claiming all the glory.

'Putting on an event where you have 22k tickets sold that doesnt include children, so we're expecting more than 25k people will be here today. That comes with its own headaches and some of the traffic has been difficult to deal with, but it looks like now people are getting into the airshow itself, everybody is having a good time and hopefully we can do this again in the future and we can improve it for next year aswell'

But we put the message out there weeks before to give yourselves plenty of time to get here. Its a sell out event, obviously theres going to be lots of people travelling, its one of them things unfortunately and yes if we could change things and fly everybody in we would'

Why would an accident on the A66 cause gridlock around the airport and down to Eaglescliffe?

Surely that would have the opposite effect, if the bulk of the vehicles were stuck on A66?

'A victim of its own success' as people have stated they knew 20k+ people would all be heading for the airport within a 2 hour window, yet no traffic management was put in place what so ever
 
Why was the outside lane of the A66 blocked? If it was how is that the fault of the airshow organisation? Surely that's the fault of idiot drivers who want to be at the front of the queue no matter what issues that causes other road users. You can see it every day with drivers of well know German brand cars darting off of the A19 southbound onto the parkway and ingelby turnoff at the last possible second.
