Team vs Hull

-----------Dieng-----------
Dijk---VDB----Fry----Engel
----Barlaser--Howson------
Jones-----Crooks---Greenwood
----------Lath-----------

Think the above team pretty much picks itself.

Clarke has been very rusty, so Fry has to start. Bangura could come in for Engel, but I doubt it. Then Rogers may get the nod ahead of Greenwood but again I doubt it.

and there is no comparison between Lath and Coburn.
I presume you mean because Coburn is injured, rather than anything to do with ability?

The team plays better and gets better results when Coburn starts rather than Latte Lath.

ELL has to start. He's causing mayhem for defences. I think it will be

Dieng
VDB
Fry
Clarke
How's on
Barlaser
Jones
Crooks
Greenwood
ELL
Is he ? I didn’t see him doing much on Saturday other than hitting the ball wide when through in goal - we’ve lost almost every game he’s started

I think the Gazette might have the team correct for a change, but the best news is that Jaden Philogene will probably miss the match. I've watched him a few times and he'd terrify any of our right backs. He's also got 6 goals and 5 assists from the wing in 14 appearances.

That is great news. Absolute player him

What's the gazette team? I can't be bothered trying to navigate the site

Matt Crooks:

[c/o BBC Football]

Appears to be a crucial member of our team so far......
Top assists of any other player and fourth highest goals scored / assists combination.

I certainly would not be playing Van Den Berg at tight back when Djiksteele is available, especially in a home fixture. His positioning for the second goal on Saturday was awful - the lad has fantastic potential but not as a full back

Liam Rosenior has confirmed Jaden Philogene will miss Wednesday’s clash against Middlesbrough with a knee injury.

The winger was substituted in our last fixture away at QPR early in the second half, with the Head Coach confirming that the club are awaiting to learn the results of the scan and find out the extent of the injury.

“We haven’t had the results of his scans as of yet. As soon as we know, we will inform, but he will miss Wednesday,” said Rosenior.
“Injuries are the same for every Championship club. No matter what injuries we have, it is my job to find a solution for us to be successful and that is what we will do.

“We missed Ozan Tufan for a big part and we missed Aaron Connolly after starting the season on fire along with Jason (Lokilo).
“Fortunately we have Regan Slater coming back into the equation, Harry Vaughan is training really well and I have both Ozan and Aaron ready to come back in after fully recovering from injury. Every player brings in something different.”

Focusing on Slater, the Gleadless-born midfielder has featured off the bench for the past three games following a close two-month layout due to injury. Looking to make his first start since September, Rosenior has confirmed it will be a challenge for him.

“He’s got a fight on. We have some outstanding talent here. Tyler Morton has come in and he has looked top so for me, it is always about having a squad.”

With no fresh injury concerns, Rosenior spoke on the absence of Alfie Jones, who missed the Tigers’ last fixture against QPR after the brilliant news of the arrival of his first child.

“Alfie will be back in the squad. I have three outstanding out-and-out centre halves in ‘Macca’ (Sean McLoughlin), ‘Greavesy’ (Jacob Greaves) and Alfie, along with a young and promising centre half in Andy Smith. I think Alfie is underrated. Ever since I have started working with him he has gone up at least another level with the way he has played.

“I believe Alfie is probably the best right-footed centre-half in the Championship and we missed him on Saturday.”

Staying with the defence, Rúben Vinagre is also back in contention for Wednesday’s trip to the Riverside after missing the last four games.
“Rúben will be back with the squad. He’s come through his clearance sessions so it is really good to have him around again and I will have to make a decision whether he starts on Wednesday.”

He takes far too many touches and gives the ball away far too much. For a professional footballer who made it to a good level as a central midfielder, his passing is also shocking, yet people criticise Barlaser for his passing.

I read an article about Scott McTominay in the Athletic after the Chelsea game last week by one of the Manchester United writers. It argued that yeah he contributes goals and assists but his general play massively effects the overall quality of the team. I feel that we are at that point with Crooks.
He isn't playing in the same position as Barlaser and Mctominay. The combo of Crooks and Jones is what turned our season around.

I don’t think he’ll risk Clarke after such a long time out. Greenwood will be Better from the left which is the more free roaming position.

I’ve got a feeling Hackney will be on the bench tonight
If he's fit enough to play surely he would start? Either his hamstring is up to it or it isn't. He hasn't been out the team long enough that he wouldn't be able to handle the 90 mins has he?
