I'd have Steffen and Dijksteel back in. I'm guessing Lenihan is still injured, otherwise I'd have him back in too.

And there's no way Crooks will be dropped, given he's got two goals and two assists this season.

While that's true, it isn't scoring goals where we are getting hurt, it's being soft in midfield and conceding too many. If crooks is deemed a major contributer to those problems, then his goals for colum shouldn't save him from being dropped. Nobody has played well enough to be assured of their place.

I can’t tell if this is a windup or not. Pass to a player in a better crossing position and we score or try and take on a defender and then cross. Just to satisfy some fans who think he’s not as attacking, as last year. Maybe he did the right thing?
 
Roberts - starts over an injured Steffen

Dijksteel - has played his way into the team over Paddy McNair
Fry - starts over an injured Lenihan
Bola - starts over Clarke for me at least based on his last performance

Jones - first choice with no competition for that role
Howson - dependable, and in competition with Luongo, moving him to the right to shore up our exposed wing on the counter
McGree - play through the centre to limit out exposure on the wing backed up by Howson & Luongo and 3-4-3 in attack (3-4-2-1)
Luongo - again with a view to shore up those gaps when we attack, to form a double six with Howson when McGree pushes forward
Giles - much the same as Jones, irreplaceable.

Crooks - the recently maligned number 10 position, goal scoring attributes pushed further up the pitch winning the ball further up and being an added aerial threat
Muniz - the real deal! but he would do even better with someone to play off. he is exceptional in the air and we have quality balls in from our wingbacks


Lets be fast, lets shore up the holes and lets be a massive aerial threat.

This is harsh on Duncan Watmore imo.. but he needs protecting at all costs. take the fight to Rotherham and then unleash 'cheat code' towards the end.

He also needs to look up before just belting the ball across, at least twice on Tuesday he got into great positions just to waste the opportunity because he’d not taken a little look up to see where Muniz and Watmore were waiting to pounce

No, I agree, but in terms of overall contribution he keeps his place I think. Of the midfield three Mowatt is the one most under threat.

McNair has not particularly impressed on that right hand side of defence. I thought he did quite well on the left hand side last season.

Luongo—McNair—McGree

The question for the next 15 games needs to be.. where does Luongo play and what will be McNair’s best role?

Howson and Crooks play as often as possible for me, unless they need resting, at which point we'll see Luongo. I think of the midfield three, the one whose place is in doubt is Mowatt, given that McGree is possibly a better option, especially when Akpom is fit.

Giles is excellent at crossing. Jones on the other hand needs to significantly improve that aspect of his game
 
I'm surprised how many have selected Howson in their team. I thought he was absolutely dreadful the other night and feel we need to go a couple of games without him in the team, to see how we get on.

I like him but feel that age is catching up with him and having him as defensive midfielder is probably a big factor as to why we get overrun in midfield.

I'd also go back to the old back 3 which generally worked for us last season.

Not seen enough of Luongo to comment on starting but could Mowatt play that role instead of howson, he always playes in a 2 at Leeds and Barnsley.

Also for me Watmore has to start every game, we pressure much higher up the pitch when he plays, looking back over the last 2 year Watmore signed on a free and set the tone of the game, then we brought in kebano and bolasie, dropped watmore form dipped, likewise last year dropped watmore when connelly and balogun come in amd form dipped.

Also dijksteel is the best rcb at the club, paddy has to go back on the left, whether he is right fotted or not that is where he has played his best football for us, agree the back 3 should go back to whats been our best in recent times.
