Tav - so I'll ask it again...

I have defended Tavernier and he has ability, but he is not playing remotely well and hasn't for a long time now.
I'd prefer to see Payero play.

Matt Crookes has so much more impact in a match than Tavernier. He is hugely important to us.

Doesn't score.

Doesn't assist.

Shooting is woeful.

Set pieces are pathetic (looks like he's been took off them thank god).

Often loses the ball.

I'd personally be a lot more lenient with him if he had 2 or 3 of the above attributes. I really don't know why people are defending him these days, like other posters have said, he's had 6/7 games centrally now and he's had no impact at all.

He works hard yea, I get that, but we need a LOT more.

Chicken run mentality alive and well on here still good to see.

The lad is a top talent and will, I'm sure, play EPL football in the next few seasons, but he's really struggling for form at the moment.

It will come though, no doubt about it.
Whoaaaaa!! Steady on there! 😊 He's a key part of the team and how it functions. If people can't see it that's on them.

What the hell does he bring to the team?

This is the ?7th game in the middle... He still offers nothing...gives the ball away in dangerous areas and going forward has very little idea of what to do with it.

Payero will soon be in the team ahead of him.

People cannot keep defending a player that offers no goals or assists....
We beat a team that looked to be running away to promotion in a tremendous contest. Which team were you supporting?

Ah another one watching for errors. I saw at least 4 bottle jobs on 50-50s from 4 separate players, I saw the ball lost inexplicably by numerous players this afternoon. Im not going to criticise any of them because we won through a collective team effort of which Tav was a visible part.
Exactly. Sat looking at one player and judging every aspect. Probably joined in with the Sporar song (no goals from open play for how long!) or glossed over any other players failings

He's a decent player at this level and very important part of the team and squad atm.
However I feel if does play in the EPL it will be with us and he would only be back up.

Bore Off

I love Tav and he’s still the first name on the team sheet for me. Keep on keeping on. Clearly Chris Wilder loves him and I love Chris Wilder too. You boo boys can go and do one. We’ve not lost in 6.

Unbelievable sometimes Boro fans. Can't get behind an academy product with bags of potential (who is, as I've had to say multiple times this season) our primary creative outlet and has been pivotal to the majority of successes we've seen this season.

Yes, Tav is frustrating, but look at what he does when off the ball. Look at how his position in our attacking play essentially motivates the bulk of our forward runs. Look at the creative opportunities we do see when he is able to provide. The lad is highly rated, but is ultimately starting at a staple Championship club (which we are and have been for much if the last decade) - he's not going to be the finished article and this is his first season in a side which arguably shouldn't be settling for mediocrity, the fact he's shown such promise this season is progress enough.

Lad clearly loves being at the Boro, just wish supporters would recognise this and praise him for the things he gets right rather than slaughtering a high potential work in progress for the things he does not. We will miss him when he goes and shines elsewhere.

It is a game of opinions as in another thread you said that Howson oozed class today, yet his sloppy lay off in the first half put their forwards through with a 3 on 2 situation and the fact they missed it was down to their incompetence rather than our good defending. I personally think Howson is a good player but to say he oozed class today seems a bit wide of the mark when you are criticising another of our players who did pretty well linking defence with attack I thought.

hard graft from him today, but yeah, his confidence needs rebuilding. A goal and he might start flying again

I don't think I said he oozed class anywhere.
