It could be to their benefit financially to call it off, and it rules out the risk having the points deduction postponed until next season!

I'd love to see Wigan win their last game, have the points deducted and stay up. I simply don't see both Charlton and Luton both winning today.

I thought if they stayed despite the deduction then the points deduction is applied next season.

That is as I understand it. The points will only be deducted this season if they are in the bottom 3 as a consequence of the deduction. Otherwise it rolls over to next season

So effectively we drop if Charlton and Luton both win and Birmingham draw, assuming we get beat of course?

An unlikely, but not entirely out of the question, set of results.

I think it was in the STimes that Wigan said they would withdraw their appeal if they were saved by the losses of other clubs.

That tells me that their appeal has no chance of winning.

If you really thought the punishment was completely unfair/unjust, you wouldn't just leave it because you aren't going down, when it would just come in to effect next season.

EDIT: Ignore this, I had it the wrong way round

Opposite way round...if they were in the bottom 3 by rights then the deduction rolls over to next year. If they end up outside the bottom 3 then they lose 12 points this season (pending appeal).

No the points will be deducted whatever tonight. The only time they could have been deducted next season was if they had finished in the bottom 3 without the penalty. Which obviously is not the case.

Exactly. It's obvious. The reason that ruling is there is to prevent teams cut adrift at the bottom of the table from entering administration to take the "punishment" at a convenient time that will have no consequence to them. Other than that, the points deduction is applied the same season the team enters administration. I don't understand how this needs clearing up every day.

I really think Luton and brum will win. They are playing teams fully on the beach.

I don't expect Charlton to get anything👍

The issue for me is that I doubt we will get anything. Don't get me wrong Sheff wed are poor. I think it's gonna be a case of needing others to get us out of it.

That said just get the fecking point and we don't need to worry about anything👍

Derby aren't fully on the beach as they've got a potential points deduction to worry about.

They could go down if it was 12 points or above.
