Surely Dieng has to start today

Dieng is better than Glover. So makes no sense not playing our best GK. He was outstanding pre AFCON. Arguably one of our best signings (along with Rav).

So seems odd that he's not come back into the side. I think Glover has overall done well and a more than compitant No2. I won't let a couple of errors over the last 2-3 games change my mind on that. He's done 'alright'.

I'd have Dieng back in today. Also adds the better ability to play out from the back.

Pure speculation that he went to the AFCON injured and made it worse and now Carrick is holding a grudge.
Well let's put it this way, I would expect an injured player to return to his parent club immediately and not stop off somewhere for a few days holiday...

On balance Tom Glover has done OK between the sticks since Dieng has been out injured. He's made some blinding saves , but he's also been beaten too easily , particularly in recent games. He had a howler diving over the ball at the near post to give Sunderland a point at the Riverside and had a real stinker against Bristol. To have any chance of making 6th we're going need to win 10 of 14 games. Momentum is everything and I feel that reintroducing our number 1 would be a massive step in the right direction, sort of feels like a new signing.

I'm also hoping that Latte Lath comes back like a man possessed and starts banging them in from the off. Think its the only way we've got any chance of making the play offs.

To quote Lennie Lawrence 'all talk of the playoffs is banned' 😀

28m 45s for those that can be bothered to look ...

I know we all love Dieng but his underlying stats aren't that great

Glover has done pretty well bar the Sunderland game so I can kind of understand why he has stuck with him. And I guess we don't know how fully fit Dieng is.

I don't really mind if I am honest. Glover looks capable. I just prefer Dieng but perhaps he is not quite match fit.

He'll get his no1 spot back at some point.

Realistically he has made a couple of mistakes over several months.

Has done a good job playing out from the back.

I think him and Dieng have been good - it's like crossley - schwarzwer all over again 20 years later

The only genuinely good game Glover has had for us in 2024 was against Aston Villa.

He's made mistakes in most of the other games.

The one clean sheet he kept, against Chelsea, was in spite of him, Palmer missed an open net from 1 yard out after a Glover howler.

I can understand Carrick wanting to send out the message "if you do well you will keep your place", but Glover hasn't been doing well recently.

He didn't do much wrong at Leicester but his goalkeeping for the goals we conceded vs Sunderland and Preston was a joke.

I'd imagine he'll be more surprised than anyone that he's managed to keep his place in goal.

Glover is a perfectly decent back up keeper at this level.

Dieng, if fully fit, is a better keeper and should play.

Seems a good time to swap Glover out: he wasn't great last week, but doing it now won't feel like he's being scapegoated.

This, He gives me the heebeegeebees every time the ball goes near him. Crosses, basic saves, playing out from the back - he's iffy. Makes the odd flashy flying save but it doesn't make up for that basic feeling of calmness you want your goalie to inspire. Not for me, I'm afraid.

If that’s true I can’t see why Carrick would risk the small chance we have of getting into the playoffs to discipline a player who was injured anyway. 1 or 2 games I could understand but no more than that.

Pathetic keeping that.
Having said that if what was said previously is true I can understand why Glover is playing.

We finally have a no.1 keeper that you can see being here for a decent period of time and we're F***ing around with Glover in goal.
Absolute travesty.
