Just attended the pre match briefing as a fan rep for Boro at Sunderland.

I will post some of the information here and some more later.

At this moment in time tickets sales total 40,741 - Boro sales 2292.

Turnstiles will open very early at 10.30am so 2 hours before the 12.30 kick off.

If driving up by car - please use Sunderland park'n'ride -

The Park and Ride is located at the Sunderland Enterprise Park on Wessington Way (A1231). It's easily accessible from the A19 and is clearly signposted. Buses run every 5 mins up to kick off.

If coming by coach - Boro official coaches will leave the Riverside at 9.30am there are about 8 I believe and a couple of mini buses. Unofficial coaches and mini buses can join on the convoy at the Riverside or else meet up at Easington (Hawthorn) services on the A19 at around 9.45/50am - the coaches won't be stopping but driving through at the time. Then the police usually ensure there are green lights all the way along the A1231 to SoL where the now 18 coaches will park as usual in the Yellow Car Park. opp Reception. And remember turnstiles will be opening at 10.30am.
There are 4 turnstiles - just as last year. So that means there should be no congestion getting in.

30 Boro stewards will be going up, some in the coaches to assist at SoL.

In ground there are some safe standing in Block P - proving popular with away fans.

2 bars for away fans - Bar 36 on top floor so near our seats - 800 capacity.
Bar 30 is a floor down and has 1000 capacity.
They serve Roker Road beer - we can celebrate with this after the match but no happy hour cheaper prices we obviously drank them dry celebrating last year.

SoL is cashless - programmes included, all sold inside stadium card/mobile only.

There is not likely to be full on search of everyone for coins/vapes this year - but I would advise you to leave any coins and vapes behind because there is always a possibility of a search at the gate. So, best not to chance it. And coins no use at all inside SoL.

Trains -
No Football Specials due to engineering works - 2 strengthened services ie 4 coaches not 2 as usual.
.
Strengthened Service from Middlesbrough at 10:18 and Strengthened Service from Middlesbrough at 10:31 getting in to St Peters the halt for SoL at
11.11am and 11.33am

So, absolutely fine for getting to the game.

There is an earlier 2 carriage train but it only goes to Sunderland station getting in at 10.30am so not much point for us really.

The return journey.... There are services all afternoon leaving from Sunderland Station but the two services leaving from St Peters (SoL) are at 14.47am/14.48 and 15.01.
The first train has been put back from 14.37. It will stick around for a couple of minutes as well in the station.

The police and stewards are well aware that Boro fans will be wanting to get on that train so they may ask us to remain for 10 minutes - the Sunderland Chief Steward made it clear it is because approx 10000 Sunderland fans would be walking down that road we need to take for the station so it is for everyone's safety. That hold back may not happen, especially if we score 4 goals like last season. Everyone has looked closely at the timing and will be aware to allow Boro fans enough time to get to the halt and of course there is a 15.01 train also.

Should people not get on either train then it is a 10 mins walk over the river to Sunderland Station for the normal 2 carriage services that continue all afternoon.

I should say as in previous years no Sunderland pubs are hosting Boro fans.

Are the bars open after the match if we want to hang back? As I'm getting the metro back to Newcastle it's easier to wait around a bit. Cheers.

Yes the two bars stay open after the match - just no Happy Hour prices this year.

With the strengthened rail service, how do they know the likely weight of all the Boro fans getting on it in order to know how much t8bstrenghten it. Presumably they talkung about 9mm steel plate reinforced flooring

No pubs designated again for Boro fans, we always put a couple of pubs on for the Mackems to have a few beers before the game.

As I travel via Newcastle always have a couple there to brace myself for entering Mackemshire.

And 1 on the train for going to Newcastle.

Just to update on this - the Boro webite now says there will be an enhanced search.

I thought it was strange that there wasn't going to be search as I seen a post on facebook where the Sheff Wed fans had had coins confiscated a couple of weeks ago. Sheff Wed had added to the total collected before donating to charity.

Maybe they shouldn't put away fans above the home fans then they wouldn't have to do this 🤡
