Let's be honest, we'd have people unhappy about the rationale for a similar shirt and keen to share their views about it online, directly from their 1958 mindset.

I've got no problems with the idea behind the shirt as it's made for a good reason so good on Sunderland for making it.

However, let's not pretend that everyone will agree that it's a great shirt and anyone who doesn't is being homophobic. It's not my cup of tea. There's too much of the colour pattern. Might have been better with parts in that style but it's too over the top and in your face as a design to be something I'd like.

Shirts will always split opinions, I like it but understand that others won’t , that’s freedom of opinion.
I think the fact that it’s labelled a‘Equality shirt’ is the real divider in some people’s eyes.

It’s a nice looking shirt and a good cause but every set of fans has it’s snowflake anti woke brigade who would kick up a fuss. A sizeable number of our fans would boo teams kneeling down for a few seconds before a game not too long ago.

I'm not sure if it would. I've always felt Middlesbrough is far more open minded / multicultural than S'land. I know we have our share of right wing bigots and obviously the trouble /riot made the place look bad but Sunderland is an extremely small minded place or it was when I lived there (can't believe I've admitted to that).

The shirt is great but I imagine that if it had been released in time for our game there would have been people wearing it shouting 'paedo'. Ironic!
