I also bought my brother Super Striker for his 50th birthday, he couldn’t believe I’d managed to get hold of one.I think mine is still in my loft back in Boro too!

Fantastic! I’d forgotten to the 2d men. About 1970??Remember the original subbuteo where the the players were 2d instead of 3d, also when you broke a man and glued him back to the base he was a little bit shorter than the others.
And often only finding players that went off the pitch by the crunch under your feet....Subbuteo was great. Apart from having to iron the pitch every time you played it.

Was that kevinHe always beat me at Subbuteo
'Cause he 'flicked to kick'

Yes, my perfect cousin! Was that kevin
You could place the ball in the diving keeper's arms and make him dive to throw the ball into play on Super Striker (you could also do backheels with outfield players if you knew what you were doing!)Subbuteo was all about accessories.
Super Striker was much more realistic, faster and skilled.
The move from Striker to Super Striker was good, especially the goalkeeper progression from throwing out version to diving keeper.
