Unbelievable, can't believe karanka didn't play him upfront. Wasted on the right hand side will have been prolific in the championship and no doubt scored more than he did in the prem. Another talent wasted at boro. We've spent the last 5 seasons looking for strikers and spent how much? Over £25m trying to recruit one half decent.
And yet when relegated we had Stuani and Bamford. Didn't need to spend a penny.
Not sure we could've made a bigger mess of it if we'd tried

Yup said this before, we should have spent the 15mill Britt money, 7mill Fletcher money and 9mill Braithsnake money (31mill) on 2 or 3 high quality creative midfield players around 23 year old.And yet when relegated we had Stuani and Bamford. Didn't need to spend a penny.

Imagine if we had bought James Maddison from Norwich that summer for 20mill and Benrahma from Nice for 6mill to join Traore as our third key creative player, we would have smashed that league and still had 5mill for squad players
Who would blame himI'm pretty sure Stuani wanted to leave to go back to Spain.
I never quite get the frustration around the promotion year. It's about the team and the system worked pretty well - we got promoted. The annoying thing is he played him up front in a couple of cup games and I think for half a game against Brentford in the league and he looked good. Very good.
Frustrating.
We really needed someone young and dynamic to play alongside Negredo who did ok but had no pace anymoreOnce we were up though it was as if Negredo had to play every minute of every match as the #9 and Stuani, Rhodes, Nugent and anyone else simply weren't allowed a go there no matter how few we were scoring.
Well, we had 'the wavebreaker' De Roon.....We really needed someone young and dynamic to play alongside Negredo who did ok but had no pace anymore
No doubt Negrado was a good player but he needed someone alongside to support him.The thing is it did 'work' when we got promoted. At least, we got promoted.

We signed Bamford and Gestede in the January and didn't play them either. It was all very strange. Negredo was a good player but he wasn't fit enough to play 90 minutes every week effectively and he certainly wasn't so good that he was above any form of competition.
He was employed too high up the pitch, Grant and Leads legs had gone, he needed to sit and break those waves deeper, if Gaston hadn't had a strop maybe things would have been different. Glad that lad ended up a squad player at Sampdoria and got dropped from Uruguay squad.Well, we had 'the wavebreaker' De Roon.....
