Steve Gibson's fmttm Q and A - Thursday

Thanks for the updates to those who’ve posted.

Clearly he isn’t going to go into too much detail about the here and now, and in many ways he can’t. Doesn’t sound like he gave any compelling arguments for ticket pricing, he obviously just believes in squeezing as much juice out of the lemon as he can, which is what we all suspected.

Sounds like it was more interesting hearing him talk about players and managers from years gone by. What a tool Emerson was - worse than I originally thought! No surprise that Gaston was too and that Pulis was sound.😁

Also interesting that he gave Monk the freedom to sign Fletcher on a 5 year deal. Does this put an end to the feeling that Karanka was “let down” by recruitment?
He was asked about not backing Aitor and he said that he gave him everything he wanted recruitment wise.

I couldn't go because I live in York, have a family and plans. Having more than a few days notice would be great. I don't mind not going, just don't beat me up for not doing so. I was at the match on Monday, so I'd put the miles in this week.

Glad it was good, Gibson does always come across well when he gives himself the chance. Everyone always says how open and funny he is.

I definitely think we should one with Gibson and one with Scott every season. I think that would be really interesting.

Did no one raise the stocking issues at the club shop? It is farcical that you can only buy shirts at very limited windows during the season. Is he aware how bad it is?

It wouldn't have bothered me much a few years ago, but now I've got kids who wants kits (albeit ridiculously overpriced kits) it'd be nice if I didn't have to time it like a military operation to get there when they actually have some in and plan for trying to get hold of them for birthdays and Christmas months in advance.

Plus living near York there's lots of other clubs represented in the playground vying for their attention , whose shirts you can get hold of pretty much all year round.

I'm doing my best with the brainwashing and signing them up to a lifetime of heartbreak and disappointment, but the club really aren't helping me out much with that.

Your last paragraph really hit home with me, it really is a form of child abuse isn’t it? 😂

In exactly the same boat, substitute "York" for "Stockport".

Son plays U10s footy, trains 2-3 times a week and adamant he wears his Boro top (couldn't get the shorts and socks, sold out). Lovely to see surrounded by City/Utd/Real Madrid/PSG kits.

Most of his mates are plastic City fans, not a chance he's going down that road......and thankfully he doesn't want to.

So it's April and now thinking "hope I can get one in August". Crazy.

Or could go down "alternative routes".........

I'm sure that last line wasn't meant to be as sinister as it sounds 👀

Rob posted it on the Sunday, I clicked on the link the next day. It was sold out.
I was sat in the Navvy pre Leeds match when my brother mentioned it to me and he checked his phone and there was still tickets left then. I said I would get one when I got home but forgot. So it was Tuesday before I checked and it was sold out then so I guess you were unlucky if you checked Monday. As I said the announcer at the game said there was still tickets left so maybe/obviously people booked after game. So it looks like we will both have to wait until next time if there is one. (y)

To be fair to the kids of Heaton Mersey - Stockport has always been a City heartland. Well before Abu Dhabi.

I believe it had the highest % of city season ticket holders of any Greater Manchester borough. That's why Stockport County fans hate City much more than anyone else (bar that rivalry they made up with Burnley).

It's why - in response to the "Trafford United" jibes - United fans say they're the real Manchester club. They say City fans are actually from Stockport, not Manchester proper. (Just don't ask where United season ticket holders come from!)
