Steve Gibson calls for urgent help from the Government and Premier League for EFL clubs

Has British sport received any finanical help from the government so far during this pandemic?

Why should taxpayers support Limited Companies? Don't remember these Football Clubs sharing money when times were good

I know I shouldn’t but I am going to bite on this idiotic post as I am a bit bored.

So you don’t agree with the furlough scheme then in any shape or form?

Furlough is slightly different to multi millionaire chairmen across the country

Evening Gazette - I was using Steve as an example - it ***** me off that multi millionaires are asking for money

Hilarious that you think he is just asking for the money for his own personal gain. It’s for the EFL to continue its current format.

I can't see that the government is likely to be interested in helping, since the football business itself rejected a deal to save itself.

Again when did the clubs share the money when times were good? Did we get lower season tickets, shirt prices, etc when we got £100+ million promotion money? Nahh didn't think so

Having endured 10 years of cuts to absolutely vital public services, with further cuts likely to come, I would not be in favour of my taxes being used to pay for a footballers wages. Financial help should be going to the poorest in society, not the richest. Football needs to sort it's own mess out.
At the last round of talks there was about 50 million offered, the league said the offer was still on the table and that any clubs going into debt should still contact them on an individual basis. (I think). It's basically a game of brinkmanship at the moment. Hopefully they will be able to come out of it with a deal that is not too unpalatable. I forsee b teams. Exemption from the league cup and it's European place going. I think voting rights for the big clubs and spurs were the main sticking point last time.

Thank you sheriff - exactly my point of view... but you said it much better than my blunt / direct approach

One or two observations- Yes we need Gibbo at this point - more so than ever

Virtually all Championship teams are receiving similar support from their chairman/ owners.

Yes there is a desperate need for finance.

One thing I always find ironic is the claim of Gibbo putting in a million a month. To me that is a shocking indictment of very poor financial management/ planning. That is a horrific sum . At the moment? Grateful we are still afloat.

We are not talking about millionaire prem players here but a league 1 player on say £30000 a year. How you do you say no to him rather than a bar manager at say a music venue on the same salary? You cant can you? Do you let the Club fold and he loses his job?

We're talking about ALL EFL clubs... not just League 1 and 2

" Rooney was being paid $3.5m (£2.6m) by DC United and Derby have agreed to match that figure. " - 2nd Jan 2020

Interesting article.... "According to reported figures, Stoke City have nine players on their books who are earning £50,000 a week or higher. "

Yeah... let's get the taxpayers to help out the EFL and people on this thread called me pathetic??

@Uksake @Block21 @Wilf @Maccarone @Biggy @Michael_Vronsky @The_Lizards_Jumpers @Colin Warnek @Blf

Your taxes can help the ultimate multi-millionaires (y)(y) - Mine will go to Nurses and the poor in society
