Steffen not going to the World Cup

Their national team twitter feed is absolutely insufferable, by the way.

It's like it's being run by a 12 year old boy.

I’m sure he’s gutted but I don’t see how it should affect how he views the loan move. If anything it should make him more determined to get out of City and prove himself elsewhere. A big part of that would be consistently good performances for us until the end of the season.

They must have some fantastic keepers if there are 3 better than him and proving it by playing week in week out…..Bet he would have gone if he was bench warming at City. Modern football stinks!
Feel sorry for the lad

Would like to see him stay he's highly entertaining with his footwork and distribution after a shakey start he's been very solid. Hopefully the fans can get behind him and make him feel wanted enough to stay

It’ll be his performances.

Clanger in his big moment when chosen at Wembley for City and is now playing in the second tier, has made clangers here and has hardly kept a clean sheet.

Should be motivation to improve, surely he can see why he’s not in the squad.

Horvath has made mistakes too and conceded as many goals.

Turner is their first choice and he's made 4 appearances all season after a career in the German second tier, which is weaker than the Championship.

Know absolutely nothing about Johnson but he's 33 and barely played for the USA in his career.

Seems harsh to drop your former first choice entirely for him.

Steffen has been largely excellent here for a good while now.

Steffen has let in 19 goals this season. Ethan Horvath has let in 21 goals in the same division with a more successfully performing side. So I’m pretty sure he doesn’t see why he’s not in the squad.

Horvath has let in 19 in 19 appearances. Steffan has let in 19 in 16. He’s also kept 8 clean sheets, double the amount that Steffan has.

I’m sure the USA coach isn’t looking at the league table and simple stats to make up his mind though. He’ll watch games (both Steffan and Horvath, unlike us who have really own seen Steffan) and make his decision on a plethora of aspects and angles.

Shame for Steffan, but hopefully he takes it as motivation to get better.

Horvath statistically ranked 3rd in Championship

Agreed. Im sure the US coach has but that wasn't the point you originally made and one to which I was addressing. Its small margins so understand if Steffen is disappointed.

Anyway he isn't going so hope he concentrates on our season and helps it develop positively.
