Mad how some people still think the only part of a keeper's game is his saves/ save percentage, or don't realise that the keeper is the easiest target to go at, yet the one who gets least praise when they do something great, or consistently great.
Are all shots equal?
Are all chances equal?
What are they like on crosses?
Do all teams have the same number of defenders/ midfielders in support before and after saves?
How many times a game does a keeper smash the ball upfield to an opposition player, which later results in a goal against?
How many times a game does a keeper smash the ball upfield to his own player, which later results in the striker losing the ball, as the side doesn't have any players in support?
How many times does the keeper play a crap ball to a player, who has little chance of controlling it, or to the wrong side/ foot of him, which slows down attacks/ loses possession?
How many times does the keeper sweep/ not sweep successfully?
How vocal is the keeper?
When the keeper is vocal, is he saying the right things? (we've all heard to vocal Sunday league keeper/ centre back, talking absolute tosh, doing more harm than good).
How many times a game does a keeper play the ball to his own player, short to mid-range, which later results in a goal for?
How many times does the keeper play not just a pass, but the right pass, even if it's more difficult?
How many times have we scored this year playing out from the back, or with a passing style?
I'll eat my hat if overall he's cost us more than we've gained elsewhere.
Sure, in an ideal world he would be good at every aspect, better than the mean, but unfortunately, keepers who can do everything cost over £50m, more than our entire team.
