Steffen’s performance yesterday explained….

Poor underwear apparently.

According to The Gazette:

“ Weak for the West Brom second as he palmed the ball straight back at Dike. Unconvincing with his balls out from the back too, with Baggies fans ironically cheering whenever he received the ball.”

Spence rennes is playing now they have a proper keeper one that doesent go walkabout & able to make world class saves.

He wasn’t the reason we lost yesterday. Made a great stop one on one to stop Dike getting his hat-trick. Maybe could have done better on the second, but Dike is only 8 yards out and you expect him to score from there.

Odd that opposition fans and commentators can work out that he is our weak link from watching how he plays and thee mistakes he makes as the game plays out but a majority of our fans can’t (or don’t want to) see it

odd that the opposition fans and commentators haven't said anything in the past however many games then

Paddy is a midfielder fry should have started yesterday that was the learning curve for Carrick yesterday but still doesnt save steffan the way he switched off in the game with his passes would you want him playing for you in europe if we make it again leave him behind in the championship if we get promoted its where he belongs but not with us.

He has 7 clean sheets in 30 appearances.
13 Championship Keepers have more.
Many more have higher % of clean sheets.

Obviously not all his issue, but Goalkeepers pride themselves most on clean sheets.
Even Lumley has 6 and playing for Reading.

That says it all as anyone on here would be better than Lumley.

I personally think it's time for a change between the sticks. I still don't think his distribution is very good, the balls into the midfield or out wide don't work more than they do. I understand it's how the manager wants him to play but there is a time and a place for playing tippy tappy football at the back, the difference between an ok keeper and a good keeper is knowing when to launch it up the field.

Yesterday he nearly caused another goal when he miss kicked it. I like his confidence but I just don't think he's good enough to do it.

We have a good keeper there sat on the bench and the next game could be a perfect opportunity to get him in the team but unfortunately I think whilst Steffen is fit, he plays.

He does seem to make a lot of mistakes. Not making mistakes is the top priority for a keeper. After all, a goalies mistake usually means a goal. No matter how good he may be for the rest of the match, if he drops a bo**ock he hasn't done is job if you ask me. The occasional mistake is only human but to make 2-3 or even 1 really every match is not good.

I think he's getting away with a lot because he's not Lumley or Bettinelli. If he was being compared to Schwarzer for example he'd be getting a lot more criticism.

I'd be surprised if he's still here next year.
