Anyone saying labour would be 20 points ahead knows nothing about politics, who are these commentators you are referring to?
It was actually Blair that was first to come out with that. At a time when Corbyn was 8% ahead in the polls.
What? These are comments by the Shropshire Times Tony Blair and I stopped reading at that point. They are rhetoric and refer to Corbyn. Not sure you have made a point.Labour should be 20 points ahead
Labour should be 20 points ahead
Labour should be 20 points ahead
Not an extenisve list - just first page of Google. Proves it was definitely 'a thing' and that people who probably know something about politics were pushing it.
If you haven't heard it before then you haven't been paying attention.
If you're pretending you haven't heard it before then...
Nobody told me Labour should be 20% points ahead.Labour should be 20 points ahead
Labour should be 20 points ahead

Of course they refer to Corbyn. That's entirely the point. I can only assume you're trolling now. Have fun. They are rhetoric and refer to Corbyn.
People regularly said that Labour WOULD be 20 points ahead under any leader other than Corbyn.Nobody told me Labour should be 20% points ahead.
Certainly not since Keir Starmer became leader.
Why would you assume that? I post an innocuous post about starmer doing something right.. Oh OK can't be bothered.Of course they refer to Corbyn. That's entirely the point. I can only assume you're trolling now. Have fun.
Okay, apologies. I thought you were just dismissing the posts after they'd proved the point. Why would you assume that? I post an innocuous post about starmer doing something right.. Oh OK can't be bothered.
No worries.Okay, apologies. I thought you were just dismissing the posts after they'd proved the point.
I appreciate there's half-a-dozen different things happening on the thread.
Yes but due to Corbyn, Starmer started out 20 points BEHIND Johnson.People regularly said that Labour WOULD be 20 points ahead under any leader other than Corbyn.
And that was before the catastrophic response to Covid.
Those three articles show it wasn't just a single throwaway comment, but a long-term rhetoric device employed by MPs and Blair etc.
Labour were 20 points behind due to Corbyn unleashing wave after wave of anti-semitism on the nation.Yes but due to Corbyn, Starmer started out 20 points BEHIND Johnson.
So are you saying that Starmer should have been able to pull off a 40 point swing in the space of 9 months?
You must have missed ‘get Brexit done’ with both his arms waving in the air.Labour were 20 points behind due to Corbyn unleashing wave after wave of anti-semitism on the nation.
As soon as Starmer rid the party of that despicable scourge (happened pretty quickly by all accounts) he was level pegging again.
So, yes, a 40 point swing should have been childs-play.
Unless you're going to tell us that the anti-Corbyn stuff was just made up to get rid of a reasonably sensible socio-democratic reform of the UK?
so why aren’t the Tories still 20% ahead in the polls?
I don't know about this SS, any evidence?TBF the biggest poll leads were after Corbyn had announced he was stepping down, and Labour had a 3 month long leadership contest.
I don't know about this SS, any evidence?
Thats interesting, a result of Corbyn leaving or brexit was done, difficult to distinguish I suppose.See the graph in Chris Boros post.
