Stack Market launch

Was busy before the match and packed after operating a one in one out policy. Was a mixture of post match and Christmas party crowd. Good atmosphere and hopefully it takes off.

I dont see it as a long term thing, more a fad .time will tell of cocourse th
That's the whole ethos. A pop up boozer - low cost set up, temporary solution and easy to tear down when interest wains.

Im still left wondering why it took a year to throw some shipping containers under a bridge mind.

Toon one was relocated to the St James and is effectively a fan zone. Very popular and stacked apparently.

Largely delayed due to structural repairs to A66 flyover.

What I’ve seen so far, it looks fantastic, big fan! Typical losers on here having a whinge that their favourite rare vintage IPA isn’t available on draft but there’s a great range of drinks for the normal people of Middlesbrough.

Bitter
I am with you there mate. Number of micro pubs (and pubs advertising craft ales) I go in that don't have any bitter but have countless types of IPA. They are gash never tasted one I have like yet. IPA is beer for those who are not really beer drinkers.
I enjoy a good bitter but they just dont sell well these days, that said the chapel often have one on, normally from a local brewer

A few of our lot popped down before the game. They were really impressed - I was quite surprised to be honest as they usually grumble at anything over £4 for a pint / lack of Carling (Eugh!) 🤣

Me and my mate were meeting the other halves after the game so didn’t bother. Popped up to the Good food joint to line the stomach. Still love that place. Really good value too!

After the game we popped to Honky Tonk to meet the ball and chains, that was really busy.

We did pop to Stack. Must have been 60-70 people queued up so we ventured back towards Baker/Bedford street. Nearly everywhere was full - obviously helped by Christmas nights etc.

Will give it a few weeks and pop in. Can’t imagine it’ll be any less busy on Boxing Day .

Have never tried the good food joint but will take a look.
Normally just head for subway pre match, but it certainly not a cheap option.

Yeah, it’s ideal pre-match grub for me, especially on a cold winter afternoon.

They have a selection of hot meat sandwiches, pies etc. and the roasties are lovely. It’s a bit old school which I like.

I had a pork and stuffing bun, with apple sauce. Few roasties on the side with gravy which all came to £6.40. Decent value and sorted me for the rest of the day 👍

Maybe they could paint a line on the back of one the containers to attract all the self proclaimed beer experts to have a go at ******* beyond while everyone else is enjoying them selves with the food and drink that is on offer. 😂👍

Nothing worse than a beer snob. "Oh no im not drinking that rubbish" then stagger home after 4 pints of strong stuff.

Sounds like my boss.

Out in Newcastle the other week, refused to go in certain pubs due to beer selection. When we left Stack he booked us an uber without telling us to take us down to an area of Newcastle he liked. Some of the pubs were gash.

The day / evening basically became his day out in Newcastle that we were tagging along for. Last social event I go to for a while, unless I manage to join a new team in the New Year.

I do like/prefer a real ale, not all I hasten to add. Something like a TT Landlord or Black Sheep. Proper session beers that taste nice to my pallet. Nothing to do with being a beer snob, I just don't like cold fizzy lager / floral IPA's / hazy IPA's / fruit ciders etc that are, for some reason really trendy. I don't like the taste or the gas bloating that they give me.

I too would avoid any place that didn't have any beer that I would happily drink. Only an idiot wouldn't. In fact I can't see any reason why these bars can't keep at least one decent real ale on tap. Most real ale bars I go in have at least one fizzy crap for the lager drinkers.

It was always my go to for some good warm grub before an evening match before my youngest was born, my wife works away a fair bit so don’t have a season ticket anymore. Taken a Danish and a Dutch colleague there as well for a tray of roasties meat and gravy before treating them to a Boro match. They loved the games and the food.
