Yeah its had its day. Back in the noughties I thought it was great but now I almost never put it on for any reason at all. In fact for background noise I'd put Friends on on Comedy Central ahead of it.If it's not (inexplicable) flavour of the month Stephen Warnock droning on and trying too hard to sound insightful, it's smug graphite grey tosseurs in polo necks prattling on about potential transfers that no one gives a sh_it about.
Yeah, I think that or music is the preferable alternative now...Yeah its had its day. Back in the noughties I thought it was great but now I almost never put it on for any reason at all. In fact for background noise I'd put Friends on on Comedy Central ahead of it.
I still quite like Soccer Saturday if I've got nowt to do between 3 and 5pm on a Saturday. I play the Super 6 game so it's good watching the results come in and change too. the 'bantz' (sorry) is not as good as it used to be mind, I do agree with that.I hardly even bother with Soccer Saturday now all the personality and (as much as I loathe this word) banter has been ruthlessly sucked out of it. Jeff Stelling must be flabbergasted looking at the choice of replacements he's been served up.
Yeah it's still the best at what it does, I think the main reason I've not been watching it the past few months is that I've been trying to get out for walks at that time before the daylight disappears!I still quite like Soccer Saturday if I've got nowt to do between 3 and 5pm on a Saturday. soccer saturday is shocking now after the summer cull, im surprised jeff stayedI thought the exact same thing the other day, put it on for the first time in months as I was setting up a NOW TV stick and watched three reporters I'd never seen before talking about that Atalanta player Man United just signed as if he was the next Ronaldo, talking about attributes like you would if you were playing Football Manager. Was a bit cringeworthy.
They try to be *too* down with the kids. Soccer Saturday isn't the same now either.
You can find out any news on SSN within 5 mins of watching. Then it's just random Z list former male and female footballers coming on and talking about 6 teams.
I sometimes wonder if Sky or Talksport know that more than 6 teams exist? They simply talk about the 'big 6' (used loosely) all day.
The biggest 'disaster' has been soccer Saturday. I used to often tune in for the banter and crack between Jeff and the gang. It's absolutely awful now with Tim Sherwood etc. No doubt Pulis will be back soon.
I am all for freshing up a TV format but only if it improves it. I remember people saying Alex Scott would have been great on Soccer Saturday because she knows her stuff. I actually think she does but my 'issue' was that she doesn't have the banter and personality for it. Who actually tunes into soccer Saturday for expert incite ? Just get the old gang back together.
That said it's not overly an issue as watching the Boro on Ifollow. A 'free' week as brum game on sky sports.
CDMs..... This is definitely the online Fifa generation. I love a good 'hes a false 9'. Its usually for a forward who doesn't score many.I still don't mind SSN as a whole, but it's almost unbearable to watch during the transfer windows. I think they have about 3 or 4 shows dedicated solely to transfers every single day, which is complete overkill and just leads to 99% nonsense, and the guests/presenters they have for these are absolutely awful.
Majority of the time it's some fellas with a silly podcast discussing players using FM/FIFA style language/attributes (as someone said above). Heard some bloke the other day describing a player as 'One of the best CDMs around'.
I know it's to do with Covid/social distancing etc at at the minute, but I do hope they go back to the 2 presenter format in the long term too. Was always some decent partnerships on there who could have a bit of craic with each other.
SSN is just a massive advert for sky sports. as soon as they loose rights to something the stories disappear from the channel
I've always thought it was tedious, same repetitive story hour after hour, even watching something at 10 at night that's been repeated all day they'll say something like, " see what Klopp thinks of Liverpool's next opponents"If it's not (inexplicable) flavour of the month Stephen Warnock droning on and trying too hard to sound insightful, it's smug graphite grey tosseurs in polo necks prattling on about potential transfers that no one gives a sh_it about.
Love that False 9 descriptionCDMs..... This is definitely the online Fifa generation. I love a good 'hes a false 9'. Its usually for a forward who doesn't score many.
Rudy was definitely a 'false 9'
