Springsteen 2024

I too first saw him at Roundhay on BitUSA tour. Shows were even longer back then. I think Roundhay was over four hours. Scorching hot day as I recall. A lot more theatrical and messing about, a lot of the stories were told in full raconteur mode. I don't think he did as many covers as he does now? But yeah you pretty much get the same experience.

St James Park in 85 was incredible.
I wasn't over familiar with his work at the time but was just blown away by the performance.
Next week will be the fourth time I've seen him over the decades.
Always brilliant, but not sure if anything can quite match the first (I was terribly young at the time of course!).
Saw him at SJP in 85 and not seen him since. 39 years between his gigs! Is this a record?

Regret not seeing him on Broadway when we were in NYC a few years back. Wasn't hugely into him at the time but seems like a massive missed opportunity now.

One of the lads who comes on here booked tickets for St James Park and they hadn't arrived a week before the concert. He contacted the ticket office and they told him they must be lost and it was too late to replace them. They asked if he would like to go to Rhounday Park to see them and obviously, he said yes. Within a couple of days, the tickets for Newcastle arrived and then the tickets for Rhounday Park arrived. We got to see him twice within a couple of weeks. ;)

Both were brilliant concerts but I think Newcastle pipped Rhounday for the simple reason it was the first time I had seen him.

15! Impressive. The Barcelona show in June will be my 5th time, but I only started in 2016 and probably wasn’t born when you first started going haha!
The last couple of tours have made me really appreciate Letter To You, If I Was a Priest sounds great live and Ghosts is a bit of an anthem.

Can anyone give some insight on how these shows compare to what it was like seeing him in his younger days? Eg. Born in the USA tour. It’s just most of his contemporaries are past their best, certainly in terms of vocals and energy, but I think you could still argue Bruce is in his prime now.

Yep, I’m approaching 65 so yes I’ve seen him over a forty odd year time span now.

Like others on here, my first gig was SJP in 85 though I did apply for tickets at the City Hall on ‘The River’ tour but didn’t get them. I did see him later at the City Hall on the ‘Ghost of Tom Joad’ tour. There was just him on acoustic guitar. Interesting, but not the rock and roll marathons you get with the E Street Band. One of my favourite shows was at Hampden Park in 2009. Although the songs from ‘Working on a Dream’ weren’t that strong, his older songs sounded great and he really put a load of energy into them, even more than usual. It was the start of the song signs thing that he does and he did ‘Pink Cadillac’ and ‘Incident on 57th Steet’ iirc from the signs, neither of which he had done on that tour at that point, or maybe only once.

I keeping thinking that this might be the last time I get to see him yet he shows no sign of slowing up so it’ll be probably me that gives up first!

You wouldn't have got tickets most likely, I was living in the states and so was open to attending pretty much any show, but tickets were as rare as hens teeth.

I too am old. Only seen Bruce once before, Born in the USA, July 4th 1985 at the old Wembley Stadium. Had just finished my o levels and me and a mate spent a weelk with family down in London. Hadnt really heard much other the stuff that was in the charts off the BITUSA album, but as we got the tube past Wembley we could see something was on so we jumped off the tube and bought 2 tickets of some touts. Absolutely blown away by the concert. So, knocking on 39 years until next Wednesday, my 23 year old son bought me and him tickets so I cant wait !

I cant actually remember when I got into Springsteen, maybe the early 2000's around Devils & Dust, but what I really got into was Born to Run, which to me is the perfect pop song, and I went from there. Seen him at least one every tour since then (sometimes 2 or 3 times on each) but have no idea how many times I've actually seen him as I dont really keep records and have a terrible memory.

Someone further up mentioned Wrecking Ball, which is a great album and I remember him doing quite a lot of it at the Olympic Park around its release, and for me that was one of the best times I'd seen him.

Looking forward to Sunderland next week and Wembley later on in the year.

Would love to see him live, but he's almost as dear [£] as a season ticket renewal for a show.

Like most things, our taste change from time to time and then we will go back and listen to them again and remember why we liked them. My mum bought me the Darkness on the Edge of Town around 1979/80 and at the time I found it a hard listen. Fast forward to the Born in the USA album being released and I revisited Darkness on the Edge of Town and The River album and loved them.

The set list seems to vary quite a bit on this tour, so who knows what we'll finally get on Wednesday.
He actually did Santa Claus is coming to town at Cork last week!(A sign request).
A rainy night in Soho would be apt , given the weather forecast.
