Sport type watches

Devices such as Garmin and the like. I’ve worn one for almost a year now. A few things that have surprised me:

I get more sleep than I realised before wearing the watch. Average about 7.30 hours. On occasions I’ve had over 9 hours which I would never have thought was possible.

My resting heart rate is 51 average. This is massively impacted by (not surprisingly alcohol). A couple of days without booze and my resting rate drops to about 47bpm. A heavy few days and it goes up to about 56.

Does anyone else wear a watch and have you been surprised at stuff?

My resting heart rate hovers around 40bpm.

Not a massive surprise as I knew it was about that from taking my own pulse, but interesting to have it confirmed from a device that's constantly monitoring it.

Suppose it also confirmed my heart rate rarely gets above 160bpm, no matter how hard I work which I didn't know, but suspected given the low starting point.

(I've had two ECGs over the years as a result, but all normal. I'm just an outlier. )

I have a Garmin Venu 2 (soon to be replaced by a 3) and what surprised me is that my heart goes like a soddin catherine wheel when I play badminton for 2 hours. I also sleep pretty well and my water intake is pretty consistent.

I have mine linked with Strava so I can monitor my progress with health. Wouldn't be without mine now.

Bloody hell you are an outlier. 40bpm is ultra athlete levels.

I have a Garmin 745 that my kids bought for me in August when I retired. It replaced my old Huawei fitness band that I'd had for years.
My average resting heart rate is 49 which I'm quite happy with for my age.
